Seriously I cannot begin to fathom how anyone can have faulty brakes, yet get up every day and confidently enter their car to make their daily rounds.

Aside the danger to themselves, they are a danger to every other road user they would encounter on their rounds that day. It takes a callous heart to disregard all these and still go ahead to put that vehicle on the road.

And the police, who remain by the roadside yet do virtually nothing but take ‘noko fio’ from drivers. With a public transport there is every chance they encounter police barriers several times a day.

A mini benz bus with defective brakes run over six pedestrians in Kumasi , reports Graphic Online.

Police investigations reveal the bus had malfunctioning brakes, and the owners in a futile bit of mechanical ingenuity had tied the cables together with some cloth.

The bus somersaulted and crashed into a fence at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), also hitting the pedestrians as it swerved out of control.

The injured were rushed to KATH for treatment.
