Update On Al-Shabab Attack On Garissa University | 147 Dead As Militants Kill Christians And Free Muslims

Security forces have laid siege to the area around the university

We brought you the news this morning that gunmen attacked a University in Kenya, laying siege and killing some students.

The death toll was two back then, but the situation has been escalating throughout the day until the situation was resolved a while ago- by then the death toll had risen to the current number of 147.

A Kenyan government official confirmed the figure to the BBC, whilst saying that the operation is over and all four gunmen killed.

587 students have been evacuated from the hostels, 79 of whom are injured and who had harrowing tales to share.

The militants were killing Christians, whilst Muslim students were allowed to escape. Kenyan troops are in Somalia to try and stop the Al-Shabab, who have thus declared war on Kenya and orchestrated this attack.

Very sad news indeed. Some of the surviving students are saying security was lax on the campus that led to the gunmen easily taking over. If Kenya is at war with these uncompromising religious freaks they’ll need to do better to prevent further attacks.
