Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather is going to be all sorts of fireworks, undoubtedly the biggest fight since the heady days of boxing’s greatest- Mohammed Ali.
Now an infirm septuagenarian, Ali’s supposedly picked a side in this upcoming ‘rumble in the jungle’; and it’s not the side of the one generally considered the favourite.
His daughter, Rasheda, told TMZ…
“My dad is team Pacquiao all the way! My dad really likes Manny. He’s a huge fan of his.
He knows Manny’s a great fighter … but it’s more about what he does outside the ring. He’s such a charitable person.”
Considering Pacquiao is a senator back home, and supporter of several charitable causes, you can see where Ali is coming from. But it looks to me like he’s not judging this on ability but rather the kind of human being these two are.
He confirms that next, when Rasheda says Ali respects Mayweather’s boxing ability, but not his merits as a person.
“My dad stood for things. Mayweather … I don’t think there’s a comparison.”
That’s your opinion, Ali, and this writer respectfully disagrees with you. Its obvious Mayweather is going to win this fight.
We’ll see who dances like a butterfly, and stings like a bee; on May 2nd.
