Presby Moderator Believes Prayers Can Solve ‘Dumsor’ In Three Months

Rev Emmanuel Martey

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Emmanuel Martey, is one person who is known for giving his opinion on almost any issue; be it political or religious.

He made waves during the week when he made the bold proclamation that if the President made him his power minister, he could solve the energy crisis within three months.

Now the way ‘dumsor’ is killing Ghanaians these days you can be sure people took notice of this statement. Many people, myself included, wondered what magic the good reverend was hiding that could save us all so easily. And if he had something like that, shouldn’t he just put it at the President’s disposal, irrespective of whether he was a minister or not?

On an appearance on Multi TV’s Adom TV, Rev Martey finally revealed his secret weapon. Prayer, he said, could solve ‘dumsor’ in three months. Since he is a clergyman, I blame myself for having not seen this coming.

“Are you a Christian, a Muslim or a traditionalist? Then pray and see what the miraculous God can do” He said

“Do you believe in prayers, if yes, then let the entire nation pray to witness what God can do…in three months”

First of all; which of the gods do we pray to? What if Allah wants to solve it in two months, but Jehovah opts for four months? Haven’t people been crying themselves hoarse every Sunday (and Friday) since this crisis began?

Is this man serious? The political leaders are not winning any medals with their handling of this crisis but if the likes of Rev Martey are the alternative we are far better off in their incompetent hands.

If any god gave a fig about the power crisis they should have done something by now.
