Though the fashion icons- Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (Dolce & Gabbana) are gay men themselves, their recent comment has caused upset in the gay community—which is even going to affect their respected fashion brand.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in an interview with Panorama magazine in relation to gay parenting said; “I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Rented wombs, semen chosen from a catalog.”–extensively suggesting that gay people should not be allowed to be parents…
Following the comment, Elton John and several celebrities have launched a boycott against the brand-Dolce & Gabbana for making the above comments, which they find disparaging.
Elton John announced that he is boycotting Dolce & Gabbana and several other celebrities followed on social media with tweets…“Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer Ricky Martin, who has two children born from a surrogate mother, took umbrage with those sentiments, tweeting, “Ur voices R 2powerfull 2B spreading so much h8.”
Al Roker, Courtney Love and Martina Navratilova are among a number of celebrities who have shown their support for John’s cause and criticized Dolce & Gabbana.
The backlash forced the founders of Dolce & Gabbana to release a statement yeserday, saying, “It was never our intention to judge other people’s choices,” Gabbana said in the statement. “We do believe in freedom and love.”
According to the designers, they were just expressing their view of a family unit based on being raised in a traditional Sicilian household, which Dolce says is “made up of a mother, a father and children.”
“I am very well aware of the fact that there are other types of families and they are as legitimate as the one I’ve known,” Dolce added in the statement.”
whatever.
no celebrity can make me boycott a brand ( not even Celine Dion).
This is lame…technically what they are saying is true, people should just learn to accept the opinions of others….Elton John so what..kmt
