Jermaine Dupri has called out Ciara for ripping off Usher’s ‘U Got It Bad’.
In an interview with Associated Press, the ace record producer gave his 2 cents about last week’s ‘Blurred Lines‘ copyright verdict. After airing his views on the matter, he also added that he was a victim of a similar circumstance, claiming Ciara’s new single, ‘I Bet’ is a complete ripp-off of Usher’s 2001 hit, ‘U Got It Bad’.
On Blurred Lines verdict:
‘My first time hearing it, I was like, ‘This might be a problem.’ I kind of felt like that. Them going to court was really more shocking than anything.’
On Ciara’s ripping off Usher’s ‘U Got It Bad’ (a song he produced):
‘I Bet’, is too close to Usher’s ‘U Got It Bad’. Ciara’s new single is a complete rip-off of Usher’s ‘U Got It Bad,'” Dupri said. “I’m clear on what I made and I’m clear on how music influences people and I’m clear on chord changes and how people move things. … It might not be as evident as the ‘Blurred Lines’ situation, but I believe the same thing happened to me.
What do you think? Is ‘I Bet’ a complete ripp-off of ‘U Got It Bad’? Listen for yourself.
