We as a people are not growing up anytime soon, so stuck are we in our archaic mentalities of seeing those different from as abominations.
Just within the past month alone the incidents of violence against suspected homosexuals is alarming, and already we have another incident to add to that list of shame.
Starrfmonline reports a group of ladies suspected to be lesbians were assaulted by some of the youth of Teshie, who claimed their plan is to eliminate homosexuality in their area entirely.
The mode of attack was particularly humiliating too, as aside hurling stones at the victims they also pelted them with human excrement.
“They threw stones and faeces at us, but I don’t understand their anger” One of the affected ladies told Starr News.
“Is it not the right of the individual to decide what they want to do with themselves?” She poignantly asked.
As you can see if the youth who grew up in a much more decentralised world cannot have tolerance for other world views, it seems we as a nation is doomed to this endless cycle of violence against people perceived to be violating some laws of nature.
The funny thing is people often raise these objections on cultural and religious grounds, religion that is supposed to frown on the very behaviour they themselves go ahead to exhibit; the irony never seems to hit them.
And as law enforcement never do anything about people who have so clearly broken the law, the next group to have thoughts of assaulting homosexuals would go ahead knowing they have a sort of carte-blanche covering them. It seems to me as a nation we are waiting for someone to die from one of these incidents before anyone sees the need to bat an eyelid.
I am totally against these attacks on people suspected of being homosexuals, however, the solution to this phenomenon is to enact laws to make homosexuality an illegal act, and enforce this law, the West is hiding behind the issue of human rights ( which i totally support) to push this indecent culture on us and we as a people must see behind this and reject it. Doesnt it surprise you that they will go as far as threatening to withdraw economic support for us if we dont accept it?, This has nothing to do with human rights, they want to cleverly use human right to infiltrate our relatively decent society ( compared to theirs) with this shameful act. And just for us to know, two men who openly kissed in a bar in U.K were thrown out for indecent behaviour, dat shd tell u even for them they wish they had dat our of their society. Let us as a people see beyond de deceit and reject this shameful act. Thank you
So how many years would you suggest that people should be thrown into jail for being gay/ lesbian? 2 years, 5, more? Should they be left in there to rot forever? & since you have a problem with a person being gay, you think the smartest solution is to throw that person behind bars with other people of the same sex (lol) hello? Also since you’re talking about ‘decency’, when are you going to ask for similar laws to imprison people who m*sturbate, f*rnicate & all the men (98 percent or so) in Ghana who cheat on their wives? Infact, shouldn’t you yourself be in jail because I KNOW that you’ve definitely done one or more of these s*xual sins I”ve listed. The hypocrisy is shocking.
And this is why Ghana cannot progress. These Teshie youth are not sh*t bombing their MPs for the bad roads in Teshie (bush road etc) & all the traffic there. They’re not sh*t bombing their politicians for not providing them with food to eat. They’re not sh*t bombing the big men who go about chasing small small girls & even raping them. They’re not sh*t bombing ECG for dumsor. But they have time to sh*t bomb a group of girls who love each other. Anyone else see something wrong with this picture? When you’re living in a 3rd world country where most people can’t get a decent meal to eat a day & kids are sacked from school for not paying school fees, shouldn’t that be your priority as opposed to what 2 consenting adults do to themselves? Sad
