OUR BIGGEST PROBLEM: Most Ghanaian Electorates Vote BLINDLY…

Elections in Ghana

What can a T-shirt do for you, what can a small amount of Cedis do for you, and what can beauty or looks do for you when the nation is in danger? This are the same reasons why some Ghanaians vote for some presidential and parliamentary candidates and I find them wrong.

I have seen and heard from several people about why they vote for some candidates and they simply say to me, “oh, he is cute, look at his lips, he is handsome”, some say “ I think he got money”, others go on to say “ I love the T-shirts he distributes to us and some other trivial things which does not and cannot add to the development of the nation but brings disaster.

Furthermore, I ask myself about what these people are going to do with the money, T-Shirts and handsome looks of these candidates when war breaks out. And yes I know the answer to my question, that those items are not armors or any form of protection that is going to keep them safe, the money is only going to last for a moment, the T-shirts are only going to be worn-out, and they are going to have to die if the conflicts or the nation gets to that point. And most importantly, these candidates have money and would definitely flee to other countries with their kids to escape any form of danger that they themselves caused.

I would implore on all Ghanaians to vote wisely when it is elections time, because there are so many characteristics that we should watch out for in a candidate before we choose to vote for him, some people just vote for someone because his or her dad supports a particular party and he is just voting for whoever that is contesting and that is a big “WRONG”.

Some candidates just go about saying some things irrelevant to the nations development and some of us actually do know they are bad candidates but yet, go ahead and vote for them, and when the nation goes wrong, they sit in their houses and talk through their nose complaining of the situation at hands.

Please learn to look for the best candidates and vote for them—this is one of the main reasons we are in a big national crisis and if we do the same during the 2015 elections, we shouldn’t expect a different national result in terms of development.
