If you take selfies, don’t fly a plane. If you fly a plane, don’t take selfies.

An investigation carried out into a plane crash by USA’s National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has discovered that taking selfies mid-flight might have led to the crash of the plane.

The plane, a Cessna 150K, was carrying two people on board when it crashed around Fort Range Airport in Watkins, back in May last year. The investigations discovered the pair, the pilot and his sole passenger, where taking self-photographs whilst flying at low altitudes; at night!

A GoPro camera was mounted above the instrument panel, and examination of the device found in the wreckage of the flight showed the pilot and his passenger were busy taking selfies whilst they were flying.

The Go Pro camera also had a flash, which the NTSB says can be distracting and dangerous, especially at night.

We’ve heard of taking selfies leading to deaths in other situations, but this is the first of it involving an aircraft. This must be the epitome of carelessness!

Now we can confidently say, the selfie has done it all.
