Ghanaian Managers Vs Those in Charge of Business in Developed Countries…

workers

There are many factors that slow down the progress of the great nation Ghana, and one main factor is the attitude of managers and or supervisors at work.

This article would be much more understood by those of us who have lived both in Ghana and in at least abroad, it being America, Germany, or any of the developed countries.

In Ghana, as far as I know, most of the times, whenever someone gets to be a manager or a supervisor, then that means he is above the law and everybody. They go to work whenever they like, they get there at 12pm when the job actually opens at 7:00am and leave very early around 5pm. They sit down, relax and have fun instructing the employees and shouting on top of their voices whenever they go astray.

Not having to do much work is why managers work so hard to enjoy but that should not breed laziness and carelessness.

When you get to America, you are going to be startled as to the extent at which managers’ work with the employees. Why do you think they do this? Here, just because you are the manager and you think you are the boss, you cannot go to work and leave whenever you want but also be present at the required times to boost the prosperity of the job.

I am not saying the managers also work just like the employees but whenever support is needed, they get out of their comfort zone and extend some help. Managers are punctual, well-behaved and as hard-working just as the employees, but when you relate that to Ghana, it is totally different.

I am not talking religion here but Jesus was the master and washed the feet of his servants so they would not hesitate to serve him also. So in order for anybody to serve you, regardless of your position, you should also serve.

I think if Ghanaians are going to step up their game, and going to adapt some good stuffs they learn abroad and not only the bad ones like wearing all “them” big coats even when it is dazzling hot, when those are worn in winter here, we are going to progress a little bit faster.

What has your experience been?
