8. Our Scheme of Comparison: I have several class mates but there are only a few I desire to compare myself or achievements with—because the bunch of them are losers. Strangely, despite all the class mates and friends born around the same time with Ghana such as Malaysia, Ghanaians love to compare Ghana to war destroyed countries like Somalia, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Who does that? When you point it out to a Ghanaian that we are lacking in achievements and our country is on its last legs, the person quickly say, don’t say that—be thankful because Ghana has no Ebola and it’s better than Sierra Leone.
Are we for real? Why do we always pick the worst student in the classroom as our competitor? This is one of the solid reasons we are in deeper problems today because we just keep aiming for the worst—thinking it is perfectly cool to do so.
Are we going to do something about these things? I don’t see anything happening—and those in charge can see it too. So it seems we just have to hang up there and wait for the apocalypse.
