Miss Universe Ghana | Still in the Mess…Is this a Ghanaian Costume?

The truth is, more young women are becoming smarter which has led to the decline in participation and interest all around the world in Beauty Pageants, especially in Ghana.

Coupled with the fact that most of these Beauty Pageant organisers do not honour their promises in terms of prize packages to the winners, the Beauty Pageant industry is on its last legs.

For the last few years, young women have ditched the beauty motto to give credence to smartness and intelligence. Gone are the days when women were on ‘cloud 9’ the moment you zoom in on their beauty—today, they prefer you to acknowledge their excellence and intelligence.

A lot of these Beauty Pageants organise in Ghana have become a JOKE—full of rigging and corruption, with the organisers being the sole beneficiaries. And Miss Universe Ghana is the leader in this messy business.

In the past, GhanaCelebrities.Com has had issues with the organizers for bringing to light their corrupt and cheating practices—and shaming them. Since then, we’ve decided not to really pay much attention to a rotten pageant—mostly contested by air heads and organised by cheats.

Few years down the line,  Miss Universe Ghana still continues to operate but in a full glory of absurdity which came to light at the just ended Miss Universe World pageant—where Ghana was represented by Abena Appiah. On the international platform and representing Ghana, Abena Appiah and the organizers of Miss Universe Ghana presented the above as one of Ghana’s national costume.

And the question is; which part of Ghana does this costume clearly represent? Plus, she went there with some FAKE accent too…

Kids beware, do not participate in any of these beauty pageants because it’s not worth your time—focus on something better…

  1. Haha true…that “lafa” was such a disappointment. …the very moment I heard her accent I knew there was no way we were coming home with something commendable. ..which was sad because she looked beautiful in that video

  2. Dear GhanaCelebrities commenters,
If Asiedu Nketia is unashamed of wearing his wife’s fur coat to represent us in Germany, why are you mad that Miss I-dont-know-sh*t-about-ghana’s-culture wears to represent us at a beauty pageant?
it is just disheartening that people who are chosen to showcase what we have always disappoints.

    • because Asiedu nketiah cannot wear batakali and brave the cold in frosty Germany. There was nothing about culture with his attire that day. The poor man was feeling cold for crying out loud!! You people shall not hold the government and its officials for PROPER issues yet you have directed your vitriol towards a man who was feeling so cold that he said to hell with fashion i am wearing this coat. FYI crossdressing isn’t even a sin. After that photo op he would have taken it off indoors. You people do not reason. You’re just pathetic. Look at that young lady in the picture whose accent and attire on a platform where everyone is showcasing their culture identifies her to be from a country that is not known to us. You DARE compare that to someone wearing a fur coat in cold land?? Go to London right now and walk around in nothing but kente, that will entirely be your prerogative. Vincent you have to start censoring St*pidity on here else some of us lurkers will take our lurking abilities elsewhere
