Signals making ways on social media – Facebook strongly suggests that two of Ghana’s revered TV channels, GHone and Viasat 1 are at each other’s throats over who has better contents, presenters, and larger viewership in the broadcasting trade in Ghana.

The whole drama started when Host of The Pundit on GHone, George Quaye, posted some comments on his Facebook, saying: “Oh ok…so that’s the kind of game they want to play? Nice….its situations like these that awaken my alter ego. This definitely deserves a response from Aboagye..or? Like Ola Rotimi said, “he who pelts another with pebbles, should expect rocks in return…” ‪#‎awardstime Let’s have some fun. Lol”

But what motivated George’s action? Viasat 1 has started a new award for their morning show called IGWE ….sorry JIGWE Awards and in one of their categories, they nominated Ghone, UTV, TV3 as Copy Cat Stations and then they nominated GHone presenter, Blackboi and Naa Ashorkor as LAFA Presenters

But Head of Own Production at Viasat 1, Sadeeq Abdulai Abu, who does not give a hoot about how GHone feels, has also replied George Quay’s post – also through his Facebook wall, stating without fear, “So we hear that, a far smaller and less engaging TV channel, Ghone intends to take viasat1ghana on for being the best and the nations number 1 entertainer.

“They intend to take us to town for deriving the name of our flagship morning show, this morning from an MTG (viasat1’s parent company) affiliated channel, ITV in the UK and the name of the Oneshow from BBC. Ah saaa?”

Sadeeq dared George: “Wish they will be bold enough to add that, viasat1 Ghana is a far bigger channel in terms of audience ratings and revenue than them. Have more engaging and compelling on air properties than them( this morning, the one show, boys boys, football360, viasat1 evening news, sports Xtra, take it to the streets I am not even adding our foreign line up sef, CSI, ANTM, Ezel etc etc)

Sadeeq also added that Viasat 1 has better presenters than GHOne. He continued: Exciting and intelligent on air personalities than them ( I mean really one on one who from their set up can they compare Patrice, Kokui, Kojo Frempong, Anita Erskine, Bobie Osei, Zenaida Morrison, Nana Akua, Nutifafa Attah, Thierry, Emmanuel Afriyie and Belinda Baidoo with?

We have a stronger and positive top of mind than them in the market and won a total of 14 awards over their paltry 4/5 this year (the one they made plenty noise saaaa over).”

Nana Aba Anamoah who works with TV 3 and happens not to be too happy with Viasat 1’s conduct, has also used her morning show to spit on the latter.
