Black Star captain Asamoah Gyan, for the first time, has come public to speak on the seemingly never ending saga of Castro’s death – through his lawyer, Kissi Agyabeng, who addressed a press conference on Wednesday 24th September 2014 at the Alisa Hotel.
In principle, I refused not to go and cover such an inane gathering because the Gyan’s failed to assure me of my safety. Secondly, their attack on one of my compeers who asked them a question is one that I still feel justice has not been seen served to whom it is due – the journalist by name Daniel Kenu of Graphic Communication.
Thirdly, I refused to cover because it’s Asamoah Gyan I feel the masses want to hear from and not a lawyer. Finally, I refused to cover to serve as a boycott-precedence so that others will not attack journalists or any human being for asking a question – unfortunately, some people who hold pen, paper and write were present to cover.
The latest news reaching GhanaCelebrities.Com is that the journalists who went to cover the event had high hopes that after the meeting, they will receive ‘FAT’ money as transport fees usually called ‘SOLI’ in the media trade from the Gyans because the latter are rich.
To their utter dismay, the event ended only for one of the people who organized the meeting to start pulling and sharing GHC 20 to the press. Shock was written on the silly faces of the press.
Exposing how harebrained and uncultured some are, they started fighting over the money – with some saying it’s too small whilst others wail: “I’ve not received mine.” “If its small koraa we will take it.” Unfortunately, some of them did not receive a pesewa as soli so had to leave out of anger.
Some of my own Arts Writers were not left out – as they also kept demanding for their ‘soli’ as though they were begged to cover the event or the organizers owe them. Flex newspaper reporter, Dan Lartey, who was at the end confirmed this to GhanaCelebrities.Com.
