Veteran sound engineer and revered entertainment analyst, Mr. Fred Kyei Mensah (Fredyman), has threatened to sue Ghana Statistical Service for owing him GHC 3,010 for a jingle he recorded for the latter in 2010.
Fredyma said, “during the 2010 Population and National Census, I recorded a jingle for the Ghana Statistical Service. They called for people to bid for the job which I did. I went through the procedure and at the end, I was chosen to record the jingle. I did about 3 jingles and was duly paid.
“Later, they had a problem and apparently, lost the works so Mr. Kofi Yankah who was in charge of the project, once saw me at Accra Mall and asked me to do another jingle. I did it and charged them GHC 3,010 but till date, they have not given me my money. Four years now! Is it fair?” angry Fredyma queried.
Reliable information available to GhanaCelebrities.Com has it that Fredyma wrote a petition to the erstwhile Head of Ghana Statistical Service – demanding his money but they never replied or invited him to hear his story.
Below is a copy of the PETITION:
However, in a separate interview with the Head of Communication and Dissemination Directorate of Ghana Statistical Service, Mr. David Kombat, he told GhanaCelebrities.Com Fredyma has no case.
“He has no case. First, I can confirm that Mr. Fredyma was one of the people who did a jingle which we used during the 2010 census. Actually, the people were many but I can say Fredyma was one of them. That is a fact. However, we paid all those who worked for us!
“None has come to us to claim that we owe him so Mr. Fredyma’s claim that the service owes him is news to me. All those who worked for us went through a process and can prove with documents! If he thinks we owe him, he should present his documents and we shall pay him.”
GhanaCelebrities.Com also gathered that Fredyma stormed the office of Ghana Statistical Service and presented all documents affirming his claim – that, the service owes him to one Mr. Kobina who works in the Procurement Division of the service but Mr. Kombat denied awareness of any such formal complaint.
“I don’t remember or have any knowledge of that. Besides, if someone owes you, why go and sit on radio and make noise about it? Does he know the number of people who state owned institutions owe? Have they resorted to the media to make their case?
“He should present documents! We can’t just pay him whatever outstanding he claims we owe him simply because he speaks emotionally or passionately! That is not how we work!” Ending with the GhanaCelebrities.Com, Mr. Kombat advised that “on the other hand, if he still believes we owe him and are refusing to pay, he can go to court!”
GhanaCelebrities.Com had the privilege of examining some engagement letters between Fredyma and Ghana Statistical Service. “I have all documents so we will test the law. That is all I will say for now” Fredyma told GhanaCelebrities.Com, his next action against Ghana Statistical Service. We are still following up on this story… Until then….MOTWUM!!
you mean he “RECORDED”
