You would think if nothing else, at least religion would help curb the base desires inside people, but it doesn’t seem to be very effective at that as people keep doing horrible things to each other, including the men of God supposed to keep the rest of us in line.
A pastor in the Ashanti Region has been remanded in prison custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region, GraphicOnline reports.
Eric Kwaku Poku, founder and leader of the Holy Freedom Church at Afresene, was in court on charges of defiling a 12 year old girl.
The incident is believed to have occurred on the 30th of August this year, after the pastor called an elderly sister of the victim to allow the victim to come over to his house to run an errand for him.
When the 12 year old girl arrived, Eric proceeded to sexually assault her, and the girl reported the incident to her sister immediately she got home.
The case was reported to the police, who subsequently arrested the pastor later that same day and arraigned him before court.
The court remanded the accused in prison custody, scheduled to reappear on the 29th of September to tender in his defence
Frankly the proliferation of these latter day churches in this country is horrifying, as anyone can just open one up so long as they get a few people gullible enough to take them seriously enough.
It’s giving the chance to lots of unscrupulous characters who aside making tons of cash, also get to abuse their authority in many ways that often go unreported.
The desperation of people for divine intervention to run their damn lives for them must stop, as it’s the only way to drive some of these characters out of business.
Great piece…..it’s a horrifying situation in Ghana
