Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Speaks on Divorce | Denies Adultery Allegations and Takes a Tough Stance Against the Media

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is currently involved in the battle of his life, as his wife is fighting to divorce, citing ‘adultery’ as the cause.

The case has attracted significant media coverage, as the impending divorce of such a high profile couple whose work also impacts millions of people worldwide is certainly of interest to everyone.

Antia Oyakhilome released a statement yesterday through her lawyers, claiming the marriage was unsalvageable, and Pastor Chris has now responded in a statement of his own, also through his lawyers.

In the statement, the Christ Embassy founder denies the allegations of adultery, and threatened to take legal action against the media who he claims are distorting facts to damage his reputation.

The statement, released through his lawyer Mr Kemi Pinheiro, in read “The attention of our client, Rev. Chris Oyakhilome, and the church has been drawn to the wave of false, malicious and fabricated stories being published in the print and electronic media about his person, the church and a matrimonial cause between him and his wife”

The statement went on to chastise the media, claiming that the divorce is being used as a disguise to carry out selfish motives, aimed at bringing Pastor Chris and his church to public ridicule.

“Our client is seriously concerned that under the guise of reporting a divorce proceeding involving him, publishers resorted to an unjustified and malicious attack on his reputation for reasons not unconnected with the respective publishers’ selfish motives of prospect of materials and financial advantage attendant to the wide circulation their distorted and fabricated stories would enjoy.

“The publishers decided to fabricate facts including (but not limited) to allegation of adultery against our client, with the wicked and malicious intention of bringing his person and the church to public opprobrium and ridicule”

Then came the hammer, the threat of legal action against the media if there is no cease and desist on the supposedly false allegations against Pastor Chris.

“Be warned therefore that unless the concerned media houses desist from further publishing words and stories which are false and damaging of our client’s reputation and the church, we shall, without further recourse to the concerned publishers, promptly embark on appropriate legal machinery with a view to protecting our client’s reputation and that of the church”

So there, the returning fire from Pastor Chris after his wife’s opening salvo. This is going to be one long battle, which has now turned to a WWE style triple threat including the media.
