The social media revolution is in full force around the world and one of its side effects is the selfie craze. Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms these days are always bombarded with selfies of its users.
And for a self taken photo you wouldn’t believe the amount of work put into taking one. And the crazy poses, well, it was an attempt to get into one of those crazy poses that led to the unfortunate death of this young Mexican.
The Telegraph reports that Oscar Aguilar, a resident of Medero died after he attempted to pose for a selfie with a gun.
Unknown to Aguilar, the gun was loaded and accidentally went off as he was trying to take the picture.
Aguilar was home with two friends, Omar Campos Vives, and another one known only as ‘El Paco’, who fled the scene when police arrived.
Campos was arrested on the scene, and told police that “Aguilar was playing around with the gun and decided to take a selfie with it without realising it was loaded”
He was found gravely injured from a gunshot wound to the head, but died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Reports indicate the trio had been drinking before the incident, though it’s unclear what role that might have had in the ensuing tragedy.
Meanwhile a cursory glance on his Facebook page shows lots of RIP messages, whilst one person described Aguilar as the ‘selfie legend’.
Some legend he is.
