While Miss Ghana is still in crisis – facing public ridicule and censor as well as a possible court action instituted against them – by Miss Guissipena Baafi, Miss Ghana 2013, new allegations reaching GhanaCelebrities.Com has it that another beauty pageant by name Miss Supranational Ghana, could be finding itself in a seeming situation.
Miss Supranational Ghana is a beauty pageant organized by Lilys House Entertainment. The pageant is poised with a mission of raising role models with a module of “Beauty with Talent and not Beauty with Sex.” It is also part of their social responsibility to divert the attention of the youths, especially girls, from crime, streets, and redirect them towards worthwhile ventures as well as create job opportunities for the winners.
It showcases talents, cultural heritage and rich tourism potentials to the world and attracts tourists from all over the world. They had a 3 day audition – 6th – 8th June, 2014 at Sweeties Lounge, East Airport, down Spintex flower pot junction, near Lister Hospital or Palace Supermarket.
Currently, the contestants for the 2014 edition have been housed in a hotel at Weija. GhanaCelebrities.Com has gathered that some of the contestants are alleged to be under serious frustration. First, the allegation has it that the organizers collected over 20 phones belonging to the contestants but all the phones have gotten lost.
Though the contestants have continuously demanded for their phones, the organizers have paid deaf ears. Secondly, the contestants are mostly served rice and stew but though they’ve reported being fed up with it, the organizers claim that rice and stew is what they can afford so the contestants should make do with that.
Contestants, who fail to eat the aforementioned delicacy, always use their own money to get other foods of their choice as well as buy other basic necessities with their own monies.
Thirdly, some of the frustrated contestants have pleaded with the organizers to allow them exit the pageant but the organizers insist they stay till the end of the pageant.
The allegations goes further to state that the organizers have not signed an official contractual agreement with the contestants – so when some of the contestants complain of leaving the house to tell their stories or test the law for injustice, the organizers said with confidence that nobody will believe them (contestants) because they have no contract with them.
The saddest allegation if true, is the daily scolding, tension, nervousness, and fear that the contestants go through each passing day.
When GhanaCelebrities.Com contacted the CEO of Lilys House Entertainment, Madam Lillian Boateng, she furiously demanded we disclose our source and how we got her number else she won’t respond.
Though we kindly gave her the opportunity to respond to the above allegations, she wasted her breath haranguing and throwing tantrums. She failed to either confirm or deny the above allegations. In order to get a balanced story, we visited their office on Sunday, 27th July, 2014, in Weija but unfortunately, controversy broke up – creating an unpleasant scene.
A man, who claimed he is the owner of the hotel where the contestants were lodging, hostilely approached us and accused us of taking pictures of his apartment. Upon his inability to find single evidence (picture of any part of his building) against us, he asked us out of the premises, saying, we unlawfully entered his premises – without his permission or appointment.
GhanaCelebrities.Com will continue with investigations to uncover any other mysteries surrounding the pageant. Miss Supranational Ghana is organized by Lilys House Entertainment and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Viasat 1 Ghana, Cypress Ghana, 4syte TV, Fotostore, Busy Internet & Sweeties Lounge.
