While Janet’s parents are mounting pressure on a missing Castro to produce their daughter, a lawyer is saying Asamoah Gyan needs to be arrested to help in investigations because there are too many confusing explanations in Castro’s disappearance.
Dr Marice Ampaw a well known and respected lawyer is reported to have said on Metro Fm that;
“If Ghana were a serious nation, we wouldn’t have allowed marine police to go and have fun on the sea, with the intention of searching for Castro’s body. Then Asamoah Gyan also picked a boat saying he is going to search for Castro. This will not happen in a serious country. For Christ’s sake, Castro is a celebrity, a star, anybody who was involved should be arrested to enable the person write his statements”
“We are in A country where people do not know their rights and that’s why they are walking freely, I am therefore calling for the arrest of Asamoah Gyan and anybody who went with them to Ada, they should arrest them and give them ‘police enquiry bail’ for the investigations to be carried out”
What can I say? Though this may sound shocking and overly westernized, I have to agree. Not for Asamoah to be arrested but everyone present should have written statements at the police station even before investigations started. That’s how these issues are handled in developed countries.
Since the matter has to be investigated, it is simple procedure. And one may argue that it doesn’t make sense but truly, you and I were not there! It is only Asamoah and those who were present who know exactly what happened so they must be probed further.
Like the Lawyer said, there are many things that do not make sense in this situation and it is up to the police to get to the bottom of it.
