Word Cup Ambassadors Have Raised Over $ 2million – John Dumelo Reveals | Does John Really Want Us to Believe This?

John Dumelo

The Ministry of Youth and Sports unveiled a number of musicians, actors, and veteran footballers as Ghana’s official Ambassadors for the 2014 Brazil World Cup. They include;  Becca, John Dumelo, Jackie Appiah, Grace Ashy, CK Akonnor, Tony Baffoe, Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew, Kwame Ayew, Augustine Ahinful, Samuel Osei Kuffour, Tony Yeboah, Azumah Nelson, and Ali Jarrah.

The ambassadors, among other things, are responsible for campaigning to the corporate world and the general public for support towards Ghana’s journey to World Cup glory. This includes: the campaign to raise funds to enable the supporters union of Ghana to travel to Brazil in order to support the Ghana Black Stars. The ambassadors will be making a call to the public to text ‘SCORE’ to 1474 at a cost of 70 pesewas per SMS.

John Dumelo, who is one of the ambassadors, has revealed that so far, they have solicited for over $ 2million. He made those remarks on Hitz FM when the host, Andy Dosty asked him how much they – ambassadors have collected.

“I can’t give you the actual figure because I don’t readily have all the documents in my hands but I can tell you that we have solicited well over $ 2million dollars” John said. John went further to reveal that their ambassadorial work is purely voluntary – they received no pay. “On the letter of appointment, it was indicated that it’s a voluntary work. There was no pay in it” John ended.

This $2 million revelation by John is indeed the biggest lie in the 21st Century! First, these ambassadors started their ambassadorial works less than a month now – so when did they submit their proposal letters to the corporate bodies, had formal meetings and sealed deals in these hard times of our dear nation?

Ask any event organizer who organizes events and the fellow will tell you it takes at least 6 months before one can get sponsorship from a corporate body. Secondly, the commercial in which the ambassadors are seen admonishing people to text is played largely on Metro TV. The remaining TV channels are not playing the commercial.

Finally, to raise 2million dollars – not even Ghana Cedis, in less than a month is highly not feasible in these hard times that almost every corporate body is practicing financial austerity!

To raise 2million dollars from corporate bodies in Ghana, you need almost a year to do so – and the stress you will go through, I hope only event organizers may understand my dubiety at John’s claim.

Until John or the organizers present documents to buttress this amount, I will not believe this! As the saying goes, ‘the day the toad dies, we shall all know its full length.’ I wait for the real truth, not what John is telling. Until then…MOTWUM!!
