Different Religious Groups With Different Doctrines; Which of Them Is The Right One?

Published by

It will be shocking to know there exist uncountable religious groups worldwide. Majority of these religious groups were once part of a major body. However, due to inconsistencies in worship and misunderstandings, such ones break away and establish their own.

The ones that break away create their own doctrines that they think can benefit them. It is however not too shocking that lot of doctrines have emerged. While some of these doctrines might be considered reasonable (based on a person’s intuition), others are also considered absurd. We make decisions on what is reasonable or absurd based on our cultural and educational backgrounds (though other factors might come to play as well).

Notably, some of the religions or religious groups that are common to us include Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Rastafarianism, not forgetting the traditional people. Even among these few listed religions here, there are divisions within.

If we take Christianity for example, not all Christians adhere to the same dogma. This is outrageous because the same book (Bible) that contains guidelines and laws which Christians ought to adhere to are used by all. How come there is no uniform in doctrines and ways of worship?

The Bible is interpreted differently by every church. Whereas some churches consider some acts to be right, other churches consider those same acts to be wrong. Even in Islam, there is the same canker (but not as obvious as in Christianity).

Interestingly, the majority of these religious groups worship one creator; and that is GOD. While others believe there is a particular approach to serve Him, others think otherwise. In Ghana for example, those who make use of the traditional ways believe in a God. However, they believe they can reach this God through other smaller gods.

Muslims, whose leader is Prophet Mohammed, also believe there exist one Allah. In order to get this Allah, they ought to pray five (5) times a day, believe Mohammed is his messenger among other things. Christians believe in one God. They consider Jesus Christ as the only person through whom salvation can be achieved. Nobody can get to God without using Jesus as the communication channel.

The most interesting aspect of it all is that, each of these religious groups believe their doctrine and way of doing things are the best. Upon which criteria they use in assessing themselves is not yet known, and cannot be known. Without any means to substantiate which one is the best, people still believe what their group is doing is the best and views that of others as bad. Some even push it further; to the point that they believe others will be destroyed (just because they do not share the same doctrine).

With all these issues on board, the question is; which religious group, with its doctrines is the right one? Surely, all can’t be right since they mostly contradict each other. But all can be wrong though!
