Did Charter House’s PR-George ‘Aboagye’ Quaye Really Send Shatta Wale these Messages?

In any competition, the true integrity of the people organizing the competition revolves around fairness and the manner they relate to those taking part.

Following the recent call of bluff on Shatta Wale by Charter House, the organisers of the annual Ghana Music Award, a screenshot of a certain whatssap conversation that looks like a chat between Geroge ‘Aboagye’ Qauye, PR of Charter House and the dancehall artiste-Shatta Wale has emerged online.

Even though the release of the screenshot was to somehow prove that Shatta Wale actually made his demanded 70000GHS performance fee, reading the chat throws out another big question and taint…

What did Aboagye (George Quaye) mean by saying; ‘Massa, ask for the award, NO SHAKING…I dey with you and I believe everything will go well’?

As someone quiet influential within the organisation responsible for putting together the award. why give an artiste who is competing with others such a grand assurance? Imagine someone at the electoral commission’s office sending a flagbearer such a message…

Aboagye’s message (that is if it is really his) does not state that the award will by all means be given to Shatta Wale, but it is grossly unfair to other candidates and unprofessional to give such assurance to one artiste in secret.

If you are negotiating a performance fee or whatever, where does this assurance come from? Does that mean Davido was also promised the award he received so he can perform for free or at a reduced rate?

When people say Charter House need to sit up, they take offense—but if this happened anywhere in the world, the appropriate investigations will be carried out to strengthening the public confidence in the award scheme.

I can’t imagine how those who were in competition with Shatta Wale are feeling now…

  1. This is why I don’r respect any of those awards be it music awards or movie awards. They are all fraud and given to some bunch of friends and not any talent rewarding. Imagine something like this happening at Oscars or Grammys. Who born dog.

Why should he even discuss the award with Shatta Wale. Just go and talk about you wanting him to perform and if you cant pay his fees, go and go. What is this assuarance?

If it was any serious company, this aboagye guy will not have a job by now.

Too much kululu in everything in Ghana

  2. Davido doesn’t need an award that’s not recognized. He must have been paid to fly down to Ghana with his crew. Business is always business.

  3. that’s terrible. but about the performance fee aspect, if a cedi is equivalent to 55 naira then what that guy asked for is about 385 thousand naira and that’s even very low for a top artist or at least in Nigeria. if my exchange rate is right then I think Ghanian musicians have been underpaid compared to what their Nigerian contemporaries charge . would be very dissapointed to hear sarkodie one of Africa’s best wud be paid such an amount for any performance weda local or overseas not to talk of less. I think corporate Ghana needs to appreciate these guys better, if they can pay Chris brown I million dollars and psquare 200k dollars, then 300 k naira is too small for guys like sarkodie and shatta( though I don’t even know him, but he cud win artist of the year then he is big)
