Dear GC Readers,
I have had to big problems for some years now and when it seems like one is about to be solved, the other is becoming an obstacle.
First of all, I am a single mother who has been single for many years now, though I have had some short relationships which did not work.
About two years about, I lost my job when the company I worked for had to be shut down and since then, I have been moving from one interview room to another, still searching for a decent job.
When it comes to money, I am not that tight—at least for now since I was given some money when I was made redundant.
About a month ago, I met a handsome gentleman at church and we’ve kept in touch. He knows of my daughter and has expressed interest in me and I like him too.
We will have our first dinner date this week and I am worried about one thing; should I tell him that I don’t have a job and that I have been out of work for two years now?
I am worried because I don’t want to come across like a baggage though I know I am not. But with a daughter and no job at the moment, I feel he may be forced to run out and never return to me.
Can I get some ideas as to how to handle this situation and whether to tell him the truth or pull a white lie when we go for the date? It is definitely he will ask what I do.

I think if he knew abt your dota and still expressed interest, then your being out of job shudnt be a problem.one sure thing is to not appear desperate for a man (I’m sure you’ve done a good job with that. thats why there is a first date). if the issue of the Job comes up, i think you should let him know. dont try too hard to explain anything. u were made redundant, u,ve been looking with little success, hope still up for a new one soon. ……but just curious, were you a geologist, or anything related to mineral exploration?
