Ghana Actors Guild President GAG, Mr. Odoi Mensah, was rushed to the hospital some weeks back for an emergency operation on him.
GhanaCelebrities.Com broke the news of Mr. Odoi’s illness on 4th March, 2014. We gathered from one industry person (preferred to remain anonymous) that Mr. Odoi was diagnosed of appendicitis; a disease he has lived with all these years but his doctors never detected until this time round when the disease ‘struck’ him hard and he had to be rushed to the hospital. Our source also disclosed that Mr. Odoi had gone through a successful surgical operation.
Following up on the story, GhanaCelebrities.Com contacted Mr. Odoi to find out his current state of health. Fortunately, he picked and told us “I’ve been discharged but I’m currently in the house. My doctor has advised I stay at home for sometime before resuming work. I can’t tell exactly when I shall be resuming work. I thank you for your concern my son.”
Whilst Mr. Odoi was hospitalized, GhanaCelebrities.Com visited the guild’s office to speak to its Vice President, Rev. Eddie Coffie, on a story we needed clarity but the office was locked. A source around told us he learnt the Vice of the guild, Mr. Coffie, had resigned from the guild.
For confirmation or otherwise, Mr. Odoi told GhanaCelebrities.Com, “It’s not true. My Vice has not resigned. The only person who resigned some few years back was our General Secretary but she was replaced. Mr. Abeiku Sagoe is now our General Secretary. Aside that, nobody has resigned from the guild.”
Due to Mr. Odoi’s illness, he could not make it to the field on the 6th March, 2014 when Ghana and Nigeria played a football match at Kumasi sports stadium. The match which was also to raise funds for the Ghana Actors Guild (GAG), saw the Ghanaian stars trashing the Nigerians in a 3 – I victory.
According to the Nigerians, the match was an impromptu one and that their Ghanaian counterparts enjoyed the advantage of home support. They have therefore called for a return match to be played in Nigeria on 1st October, 2014, which is Nigeria’s Independence Day.
The event was sponsored by Osons Chemists, Kings Express Travel and Tours and Asuogyaman Company Limited. Ending with us, Mr. Odoi told us preparations are underway for the Ghanaian movie starts to storm Nigeria come 1st October, 2014. If the necessary arrangements are made, GhanaCelebrities.Com shall be there and cover for our readers. Until then….MOTWUM!!
