Legendary Grammy Award winner and composer Vassal Benford has signed on as executive producer of the soon to be released movie-Nana Means King. Benford has no less than 8 Grammy nominations, 13 film scores, 4 television syndications and 57 platinum records. He will also be the Composer for the film.
Benford was quickly able to prove to industry moguls such as Quicy Jones and Clive Davis that he could find, develop, and produce talent. He has created career-defining hits for many superstar talents such as Toni Braxton, Queen Latifah, Mariah Carey, and Sheryl Crow. Film scoring credits include a multitude of projects such as “New Jack City”, “The Running Man”, “Class Act”, “Melrose Place”, and “Beverly Hills, 90210”.
“We are thrilled to have Vassal join us and bring his expertise to the project”, says director, Nana Obiri-Yeboah. “This has been quite a journey with this beautiful film, the cast and crew, and the writers.”
Benford began executive producing independent films in 2007 and is presently Chairman/CEO of New Nation Media, working with Mark Canton, producer of “300″ and “300 Rise Of An Empire”.
The film was written by a male and female writing team. “We are simply over the moon that Vassal believes in our writing and Nana’s visionary direction. We look forward to opportunities for many future projects together,” state writers Jeff Wood and Lucy DeLaat.
The Film features award winning Ghanaian actor Prince David Oseia, Richard Armah also from Ghana and Roxana Zachos from South Africa and produced by Mr Kenny Andam.
Nana Means King is currently in post-production and is set for a Hollywood release at a time to be announced later in 2014.
