CEO of WhatsApp-Jan Koum has stated today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain that WhatsApp which was bought by Facebook last week for $19 billion is set to add voice calling within few months in a bid to take on phone firms.
Jan Koum said, ‘We are going to introduce voice in WhatsApp in the second quarter of this year..I think we have the best voice product out there. We use the least amount of bandwidth.’
WhatsApp currently has a voice function but only in note form and with its upcoming voice call, the App is tipped to attract even more users.
Currently, WhatsApp is used by more than 450 million people across the world each month and with Facebook jumping on board, many believe the App will get better—with others saying, that is the beginning of destruction.
