Religion is and remains unattractive to me for such absurd reasons—-and the extensive false claims it makes without any iota of evidence to support these claims.
For me, getting rid of religion and replacing it with ‘humanism’ will be the best thing that will ever happen to mankind. But considering the false hope of heaven, the delusion of a creator/God and the everlasting after life it bestows on millions of people who have suspended their thinking faculty, a religion free era may never come to pass…
Even if for whatever reason some people want to be religious, must they neglect their sense of reasoning? Why on earth will you refuse blood transfusion because of a religious doctrine?
According to PeaceFm;
A 21-year-old woman (name withheld) who had severe anemia has died at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital following her refusal to have blood transfusion because of her religious beliefs.
The deceased, a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Sect, was brought to the Hospital by her parents and twin sister after falling unconscious and died on January 3.
Dr. Henry Ata-Wurah, Acting Medical Director of the Hospital, said it was unethical to dispense haemoglobin to an adult against his/her religious belief or wish.
He said the Hospital authorities would only explain the consequences of refusing blood transfusion to the patient for him/her to make a choice and that a doctor could dispense haemoglobin to a patient without his/her consent only when that person is a child.
Dr Ata-Wura said a patient could suffer cardiac failure when the haemoglobin level was low as the heart would not be able to circulate sufficient oxygen to the various parts of the body.
A member of the Jehovah’s Witness Sect reiterated that the Bible prohibited ingesting blood and that Christians should therefore not accept blood transfusion.
Mr. Frank Amevor said life was a gift from God therefore those who loved life should not sustain it by blood transfusion, adding “It is a non-negotiable religious stand. Blood is life and sacred to God.”
First of all Mr Chris, we as Jehovah’s Witnesses are not a sect. We stand on our own and were not withdrew from a larger group. I understand that as individual, we are all entitled to our own opinion or what we may think. But, I want to ask you a very important question. Do you believe that the BIBLE is God’s word? If you do, do you find time to study and meditate on it. I will give you some examples or proves why we as Jehovah’s Witnesses abstains from blood since you said we do not provide proves and I hope you find time to look up the cited scriptures.
The Bible commands that we not ingest blood. So we should not accept whole blood or its primary components in any form, whether offered as food or as a transfusion. Note the following scriptures:
Genesis 9:4. God allowed Noah and his family to add animal flesh to their diet after the Flood but commanded them not to eat the blood. God told Noah: “”Only flesh with its soul—its blood—you must not eat.”” This command applies to all mankind from that time on because all are descendants of Noah.
Leviticus 17:14. “”You must not eat the blood of any sort of flesh, because the soul of every sort of flesh is its blood. Anyone eating it will be cut off.”” God viewed the soul, or life, as being in the blood and belonging to him. Although this law was given only to the nation of Israel, it shows how seriously God viewed the law against eating blood.
Acts 15:20. “”Abstain . . . from blood.”” God gave Christians the same command that he had given to Noah. History shows that early Christians refused to consume whole blood or even to use it for medical reasons.
There are sound medical reasons to avoid blood transfusions. More important, though, God commands that we abstain from blood because what it represents is sacred to him.—Leviticus 17:11; Colossians 1:20.
Conclusively, we as Jehovah’s Witnesses are also imperfect humans like every one else. But we try as much as possible to adhere to Bibles’ Principals.

Thanks Jeanie. Will let you know when I’m lost. Hope you stick around?
WHATEVER! If you find yourself on the sick bed and in need of blood transfusion, you can easily refuse it and die. It’s your life!
