The slight showers of rain that pushed the show to start at about 10pm, was simply not enough to prevent the thousands who turned up for the Africa Worships With Sonnie Badu concert, from enjoying a good show.
A good show it was, Minister Sonnie Badu, Ron Kenoly and the host of local artistes who performed on Saturday through to the early hours of Sunday morning, justified their inclusion on the bill.
Living to its pre event hype as “the best gospel concert ever to be staged in Ghana this year”, the Accra Sports Stadium, venue for the event, truly came alive.
From one to the other, there was never a dull moment, as each stagecraft had its own uniqueness, giving patrons into a through and through, pure Christendom bliss.
Main headline act Sonnie Badu, who came on stage at exactly 1:00am, taking over from the legendary Ron Kenoly, performed for well over 2 hours, sending the concert into an early Sunday morning overdrive.
A grandmaster of his trade, Sonnie Badu proved yet another fine class act, exhibiting enough energy all throughout.
Other artistes, who performed on the night, include Kofi Sarpong, Joe Mettle, Ella Duncan Williams, and Eugene Zutah.
A night that raised the standards of gospel concerts in Ghana, the Africa Worships with Sonnie Badu was worth every penny.
Mcs for the occasion were Mike Abossey, and comedians Funny Face and Julius Agwu.
Two other comedians Funny Bone and Sey Law also took turns to entertain the crowd.
Africa Worships with Sonnie Badu was powered by VM Consult and sponsored by 1st Allied Savings & Loans and Tigo.
