I have no idea why people continue to goof in the face of the Power of the Court just because f their political sentiments. I keep saying, keep your sentiments in your pocket or confine them to the privacy of your homes or to your special political circles.
When it comes to politics in Ghana, there is too much bigotry going on. Your views are yours, you ar allowed to have them but no, you are not allowed to force them down anybody’s throat.
We need to start not only respecting, but celebrating other political views. It is necessary for our development.
In an interesting developing story before the Supreme Courts today, 3 persons notable among which is Stephen Atubiga, have been hauled before the nine member panel of judges.
Stephen Atubiga, Ken Koranchie, and Kweku Boahin off the NDC have been accused of
They seem to have so soon forgotten that the court dealt with Sammy Awuku last week for careless remarks on radio-Angel Fm. Or perhaps they expected to get away with it because they are members of the ruling party?
Stephen Atubiga is said to have openly stated on Asempa FM’s ‘Ekosii Sen’ programme on Tuesday : “We are prepared to meet the NPP boot for boot, We are ever ready; we will not hand over…even if the NPP wins, it will be a bitter sweet victory because the Ghana cannot contain all of us”
His statements were found to be very alarming and disturbing even more so because coming from Bawku- a town that is continuously in chaos due to civil unrests, he was expected to be more responsible with volatile statements.
Interestingly, Stephen Atubiga has begged the Judges to Temper justice with mercy.
Why do people keep goofing like this and then begging for mercy? I believe the court should deal out a good punishment. He definitely knew full well the enormity of his utterances didn’t he?
I wonder who else has been following the election petition hearing on our local Tv stations with all the interesting twists and turns that keep coming out. If this man is forgiven, then many more people will simply fall on the precedence set to make any comments they want, incite the public and appear apologetic in court.
In the meantime, the accused people are is humouring their audience with their interesting English pronunciations.
The Supreme Court has sentenced Mr Steven Atubiga, a member of the communication team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper, Ken Kuranchie to 3 and 10 days imprisonment for contemptuous comments respectively.
The two as well as Mr. Kweku Boahen also of the NDC were summoned to appear before the nine judges of the Supreme Court for making ‘contemptuous’ comments after the judges issued a final warning about reportage on the case.
Following a back and forth exchanges between Mr Kuranchie and the Judges, the court after a short recess sentenced the NDC Communicator and the Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper to 3 and 10 days in jail respectively.
Reading out the ruling, the President of the nine-member panel, hearing the Presidential Election Petition, Justice William A. Atuguba indicated that Mr Kuranchie did not show any sense of remorse, meaning, he is not truly apologetic of his comments.
Kweku Boahen was however, discharged since he described the Statesman Newspaper publication purporting that he had vowed that his party will not hand over power even if the Court ruled so, as “false”.

What was the rush? Too many unpardonable typos & errors! Lol maybe cos the ’12 elections were fraught with diff categories of errors except the Declaration as the respondents wants us to believe. Even, Dr. Afari-Gyan misquoted the number of registered voters when he was declaring the presidential results. SMH
too bad but they have been used as scapegoats….
I am glad they jailed then small. too many uneducated opinions in Ghana.
