Are Black Women Worth Anything More Than Their Backsides & Weaves?

This photo had the above text with it when it was posted on instagram

What happened to those young black women who were interested in some of the most important things that define humanity and civilization?

Few years ago, the many young black women I knew were of great substance, and were enthused by career, family, academic achievements, religious and moral uprightness…

I remember discussing and debating subjects like the origin of the cosmos, physics, world politics, current affairs, law, religion, racial concerns and ‘whether we are defined by morality or we define morality’ with many of the young women I grew up with.

Though I have not met all the black girls I grew up with, I have come across several of them and other new sets of black women, called the cosmopolitan women-better put, the modern black women.

To confess, I love the confidence and disturbing ego of these new sets of black women. Nothing can stop them from getting what they want, even if they did not need it and morality is not on their side.

To hell with morality-through these new sets of black women, I have come to affirm my belief that, we define morality, contrary to morality being divine and universal.

The concept of what is wrong is wrong no matter where you find it is alien to these new sets of black women, and to them; you make things wrong if you want to…

After all, who made any of us custodians to morality on this earth?

Let me try to restrict my writing to the worth of these new sets of black women and the sort of wretched image they’ve succeeded in building for themselves globally.

The new sets of black women I meet each day and find around me are extensively different from those promising and witty ones I saw growing up.

Apart from God, this new black women believe in nothing more than their weaves and backsides. They discuss none of the things I mentioned above and a few find such things interesting.

Whenever there is a debate or discussing among these new young black women, it is about a new reality show hitting the TV, the old ones or where to find the best weave or bum pads to buy at affordable prices.

Have you realize how majority of these new young black women have become instant entrepreneurs-selling nothing apart from weaves and shoes?

If it was only a mere interest in weaves meant to simply make them look good, I would not have bothered myself with this piece. After all, when did looking good become a crime?

But, if you stand for it, talk about it all the time and can hold a substantive debate/discussion about weaves than any other thing of importance, then it is not just about looking good. It goes beyond that.

The new sets of young black women are increasingly being perceived globally as ‘Shallow’ with nothing worth a dime about them apart from their backsides, weaves and loud mouths. No one created this image about them, they’ve done it all by themselves…

Bulk of mainstream TV programs and movies think the same of the new sets of black women. Anytime a character is needed in a movie or TV program that has to be blessed with a homogenous backside, loud mouth but no intelligence, a black woman is portrayed as such.

Whenever a black woman appears on TV series or movies (even if such programs are highly intellectual), the black woman will be known for her big backside, loud mouth, long weave, unintelligent persona or entrenched interest in non-intelligent subjects/materials.

I used to blame ‘white dominated’ media platforms for painting young black women as unintelligent with nothing to offer apart from showing their backside, loud mouth, make-up and long weaves.

However, I have realized that; the above is the true nature of affairs and the increasing number of young black women on twitter and facebook confirm this…

All I find the many young black women on social media platforms talk about is weave, weave and weave.  If it gets boring, they switch to talk about reality TV shows and then make-up.

The number of times these women tweet or upload photos of their backside (with lines adoring their backs) make me wonder; Are Black Women Worth Anything More Than Their Asses?

If you think I am exaggerating, just head to twitter or facebook and check out the profiles of any of these young black women who are your friends on there, and count the number of photos focusing on their backsides and weaves that have been uploaded.

Whiles at it, check out the subjects they discuss and the pages they have LIKED! You can hit me up for 50 dollars if you find out that any of your new black women friends have liked the pages of NASA or National Geographic Society…LOL.

Anytime I see black women shake their backside on TV as if that is their passports to heaven, it reminds me of how different these new ones are compared to those girls I grew up with.

I have stopped trying to find a TV channel which will not have one of these new black women showing off all her chest, long weave, long nails, thick make-up and building a huge credential around her backside…

Probably I just need to let go my ego and accept that; indeed the new young black women’s worth is in their weaves and backsides….Nothing More!

  1. This is a good piece and I totally agree but then ull av to blame the media as well..i still know a lot of modern women who are far more intelligent and knowledgable bt thy will never be put on tv becos thy rnt ‘attractive’ enaf…the media wants and promotes the kind of women u r talking abt and so little girls grow up watching these ‘behinds’ and intend to be like them..young girls need to see the right models on tv and in public..not daft movie and music ‘divas’…until then ther will be another generation of this sad situation.

  2. I agree with the writer ,WHO WROTE NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH !!!
Even though some backside of black women make me confuse when ever I see ,I still believe some are natural…the last time an A.S.S of a black woman made me forget I was with my girlfriend ,she find me steering at it and the flimsy excuse I gave was  I like her dress and the response was and her booty right???

Well even though africans are bless with big booties they exaggerate too much about it that why the media is painting them black ,I hate this kind of things,I personally black successful women who are well educate and don’t carry their backside as a A TROPHY ON INSTAGRAM …

NOW ADAYS EVERY BLACK WOMAN WHO HAS A BIG BOOTY HAS THE BIGGEST TROPHY AND AWARD AND AHE WON’T BOTHER AT ALL TO EXHIBIT IT ON SOCIAL NETWORK AND INSTEAD OF THE GUYS TO STOP COMMENTING ON IT THEY PRAISE THEM FOR MORE ,

SO SOMETIMES I BLAME THE GUYS WHO PRAISE THEIR A.S.S.E.S INCLUDING ME I GUESS,IF ALL THIS KIND OF THING WILL GO TO A HULT THEN WE HAVE TO STOP GIVING THE, THE AWARDS WHEN THEY EXPOSED THEIR TROPHIES ON INSTAGRAM. OR ANY SOCIAL WEBSITE (:

But who are you to advice a black woman that she should stop exposing HERSELF or condemning her big booty ,like the ARTICLE SAID YOU WILL SEE DIFFERENT TYPE OF INSULTS  FROM EVERY ANGLE OF THEIR MOUTH .

AS FOR THE WIG THINGY I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT ,COS I WAS INSULTED THE LAST TIME I TRIED TO ADVICE BLACK WOMEN TO USING IT ,@SARAH AM NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT THE WIG COS OF THE INSULT YOU GAVE ME THE LAST TIME EVEN THOUGH WHAT THE ARTICLE IS SAYING IS TRUE(:

Well done to the WRITER ….I DO AGREE

  3. you talk some truth but i cannot upport this entirely because you generalised and reduced all blak women to nothing. which is very wrong especially coming from a blak man.
where is the respect for women of your own race?
does your girlfriend not wear weaves? and have you not posted pictures showing her bare on this same site?
whenn a woman is interested in looking good. does not mean morals and good achievements are not on her mind.
and who has made thsese huge backsided women believe their bums can get them everything ? is it not perverted and myopic black men?
i think you should work more on your respect for women and generalised articles such as these.
and speak for a lot of black women when i say no, we are bigger and better and more useful than just for our bums,
maybe next time you should post the achievements of your woman instead of her in a bikini.
you may not agree with me but this is what i think.
    i rest my case

    • You would have proved me wrong if you had stayed by the article and its relevance- or disproving it on substantial merits…

To reduce the whole article by referring to my girlfriend this and that somehow indicates my assertion about most black women-their inability to hold ‘intelligent’ discussions…

I am not by any way saying you are not intelligent, but your constant referal to my girl makes me think so…

Again, no where did I state that all black women have done anything and as usual, instead of a black woman looking at how to redeem her image, she is here attacking me and my write-up which states the obvious…

Even if you think I am wrong, can every TV Show, TV Series including cartoons be wrong?

It would be worth something if from start, black women like you begin to address what their issues are and stop blaming black men for how they are perceived…

Did I tweet or upload the above photo? Another black woman like you did and she even indicated how important her backside is to her, and her friend…

From hit TV series like Friends to any other one out there, don’t you see how black women are portrayed? I did not write those scripts…right?

How come everyone thinks the same way? It is a global thing which women like you have to address, instead of blaming others…

You could have let us know that, at least you are a black woman and you can hold discussions on other topical issues like this (contrary to what I stated), but then you came off with nothing more than attack on my girlfriend-another black woman like you…

Did anyone say black women cannot wear bikinis or weaves?

So is your comment not just conforming part of the above assumptions?

Stop blaming black men, time to fix up!

      Thanks for the comment…

      • @Posted By: Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri, Chris paa, you want black women to accept this? They will not and that is what is it. They do not like to hear the truth

Have you realized how when black men become rich, they leave black women and go for white women?

It is time black women fix themselves up and begin to show their worth. All they do is talk talk talk, run around in long ass weave which can sweep the floor and think all you need is some big booty and boobs.

The world is moving fast  and yet most black women live in this deep pit of shallowness

        • @JOHN, awe come on now John give us some credit. That’s a little harsh no? …there are many black men who go on to marry their black women who were with them whilst they were trying to make it big. Am sure you know plenty of intelligent, inspiring and successful black women…I sure do! I notice a lot of black men don’t do enough to big us black women up. Yes some of us we talk a lot yes we wear weaves BUT there is so much more to us than that but it’s a shame that a lot of our men choose to ignore it which is ok with me as I know my worth! I’m educated and hardworking, well spoken but I wear weaves, I don’t see the harm. What’s more there are a GROWING number of black women who are now seeking the comfort and commitment from white men because they don’t try and enslave their women by shackling them to house chores even though they work full time, or take their money or cheat on them…see all stereotypes of a typical black men right? But it’s very true. I have many friends who have married white men and THEY NEVER EVER MOAN about their men (not because white men are perfect but because they are not living in misery)….Meanwhile my friends with black guys cry always over the ill treatment they receive at the hands of black men. It has not put me off though because I am blessed enough to be in a happy relationship which appears to be rare where black men and women are concerned I feel. I see what they go through my friends go through and it’s quite heartbreaking. So I feel maybe our men should not always go on about what is bad but sometimes point out what you love about us? It doesn’t hurt you know!

  4. In todays world many black girls have low self-esteem and because of they let the music videos brainwash them into thinking their behind is the only important thing about them, not their mind, heart, and soul. I hate to hear women say God blessed them with a behind and breasts.

God could care less about your body. He blessed most of you girls with a human body whether how big or small your body is depends on genetics and what you eat. With starving and suffering people in the world, God could care less about boobs and behind which many girls use for the wrong reasons. It clearly states in the behind a woman should be modest.

God originally made Breasts for breast feeding an ass to sit on, God didn’t make a behind or butt you to admire like its gold, especially for us men to admire yet aren’t even your husbands. Treat your body like a temple and you’ll meet a guy who’ll appreciate all of you, not parts of you that’ll he’ll use then move on to the net. And as for those Instagram girls and Facebook azonto girls showing their breast and behind truly get a life cause your given away the wrong impression

    • @Miyagi The Debater, God does not care yes that I know is true, he is only one we depend on to love us always unconditionally but many a time you see a man almost bashing, crashing and smashing their cars when passing chicks in the streets. lol Na lie? You love it all of you men unless you aren’t hetro men love a big booty simple as. SO saying we are shallow is odd to me becuase when it’s their you look right you look coz you like so if ya’ll is so appualed now summer has arrived I challenge you NOT TO LOOK! Your gilfriend/women/wives will thank me if you can meet the challenge. Coz trust me our men checking out other women does not help our self esteem much.

  7. @Chris or whoever wrote this article, I think it is a good point for discussion. My point of view on this issue is quite broad. What we experiencing now about most of our young black women, I say most because there are a few out there who are actually doing the opposite of all the negative things  you listed. Not only are the young black women showing their breasts and backsides on Tv’s and social networks, The young black men can’t get their hands off the knifes, the stealing, the bulling at schools (Crime to be specific).  I think all these behaviours relates to how these young people grew up. About 20 or so years ago, lots of marriages in europe involving black africans for some reasons best known to them couldn’t function again so there was seperation and in most cases the men had to leave. Majority of these young black women we are talking about here probably grew up without their fathers or mothers around, that is not because they are dead but because they left them at a very young age and they have no one to look up to or to listen to a piece of advice from. This is where the problem begun. Someone said something about low selft esteem in their comment but how would you feel as a child if you see both parents around you whiles growing up, getting support from both parents at the same time makes one feel very loved, cared for. These young black women want to be loved, they want to be talked about, hence all the attention seeking movements. I want to encourage all parents to bring up their children together. It gives them a complete different view on how they see the world. Just imagine taking your daughter on her first date on her 16th or 17th birthday. How proud and confident will she be?

  8. To add my two cents,l do agree with what Sir said about the “NEW Black girl” looking for acceptance. I believe personally (and do not have any research to back this),that this whole idea of having a big booty and weaves erupted in the portrayal of the curvy woman- getting the white culture to accept that curvy is not fat but is actually stylish and trendy. In trying to advocate for this and then stereotyping all big ‘booty’ black women in the process, erupted this new image of the “sexy curvy girl with the big booty ,small waist and big boobs” and you an go on on. So i honestly believe that these women are actually looking for acceptance and try to compensate for some of the points sir raised up;single parent, grew up with daddy in prison, skin color issues etc. These women are trying to identify with something that makes them unique, stand out and get attention. Now with that said, there are many intelligent black women out there;some very successful and some young who are focused and are not all about booty, make up and weaves. Such intelligent women may put on weaves and make up but they do not try to overcompensate their being black or curvy by focusing on their booty by wearing skin tight stuff that expose butt cracks or lines as you put it,but they look smart and decent. I believe it is all about confidence and acceptance and there are not many good role models out there because the bias media chooses to stereotype and portray  the black woman as the loud mouthed woman with the big booty and no intellect and tends to focus on such people in the media. I see Nicki Minaj on American idol and i want to puke when she walks down the stage with her tight clothes and weave or over exposed boobs or opens her mouth and speak  her ebonic english on tv??? With people like that, the younger generation have no one to look up to? A lot of these women make all black women look bad!
