The Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Touré has been named the 2012 African Player of the Year for the second year in succession at an Awards held in Accra on Thursday evening.
The Manchester City and Ivory Coast midfielder beat his countryman Didier Drogba into second place with Cameroon’s Alex Song, of Barcelona, in third.
The event which was hosted by retired Jamaican-born English former footballer and manager, John Barnes and TV host, Anita Erskine saw performance from Efya, Irene Logan, Funny Face, Lagbaja, Salif Keitta, and others
This is the 4th time the award was being hosted in Ghana.
