PRESIDENT Obama has broken the record once more to become the first president of the United States Of America to openly express his support for same-sex marriages.
And the timing seems perfect for the upcoming president election. However, whether it will earn him more votes, or take away votes depends on the mindset Americans have towards the idea of same sex marriages…
Any time the issue of same sex marriage has come up, Republican candidates have opposed it and their Democrat counterparts have also gone around it-beating around the bush.
With this year’s Republican candidate, Mitt Romney, having already said he opposes it and even wants to add an amendment to the Constitution that forbids it, people were expecting Obama to ignore the subject or tow along Mitt’s line.
However, Obama has decided to show his support for civil rights, his respect for the rights of others and his absolute regard for individual autonomy by giving his whole support to Gay marriage.
During an interview with Robin Roberts of ABC, Obama said:
I had hesitated on gay marriage in part because I thought that civil unions would be sufficient. I was sensitive to the fact that for a lot of people, the word marriage was something that invokes very powerful traditions and religious beliefs. I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.

Its all politics Obama has never really shown much support for the gays, he wants votes that’s all he knows America has a huge pro same sex marriage population
Why do i get the feeling that Obama is just trying to get votes!! I remember him saying in 2008 that real marriage was between a man and woman! So why now change your mind This should have been news a couple years ago. He comes off as pandering to voters by finally changing his stance on a controversial topic the year of an election.
the anti-christ himself.
