Viasat 1 has acquired broadcast rights to two Ghanaian series that will begin airing in May: ‘Home Sweet Home’ and ‘Living with Trisha’. Beginning Tuesday 8 May 2012 at 8pm, Viasat 1 will premiere one Ghana’s most popular television series’ HOME SWEET HOME. Season 9 of Home Sweet Home, shot on location in London, follows the life of Enoch Sarpong Junior, the eldest child of the Sarpong clan, as he comes to terms with living as a Ghanaian in the United Kingdom.
“We firmly believe that the acquisition of ‘Home Sweet Home’ will improve Viasat 1’s positioning on the ratings tables, as well as reinforce in the minds and hearts of people our mantra of being the number 1 entertainer in quality local content!” Says Charlotte Gustavsson, CEO of Viasat 1.
Season 9 of Home Sweet Home centers around Junior navigating his way out of bad economic transactions (reminiscent of the kweku Adoboli case) that he made, whilst working as an investment banker for a recently defunct financial services group.
Nina is in her final year of high school and having turned eighteen she is a young woman with an attitude! Jessica is about to graduate and has gone to Canada for her final year.
In the latter part of the season, the plot centers on Junior and his girlfriend arriving in Ghana with both the black and white side of her family, in order to plan their upcoming nuptials. We are introduced to more of the extended family of the Sarpongs with dramatic and hilarious storylines.
Home Sweet Home premieres Tuesday 8 May 2012 at 8pm and airs every Tuesday thereafter at 8:00pm, replacing Tinsel at that time slot. The show is produced by Revel Film Productions in London
Other new programs set to make premieres on the channel include Living with Trisha on Wednesday 9 May 2012 at 8pm; Season 3 of the ‘Men In Black’ animated series on Friday 11 May 2012 at 6am; season 12 of ‘America’s Next Top Model’ on Friday 18 May 2012; and ‘I’m in love with Bomaye’ on Monday 28 May 2012 at 4pm.
