Now in its third year of operations in Ghana, Viasat 1 is on a quest to fulfill its launch promises to localize its program line up.
On Wednesday 2 May 2012 at 8:30pm, Viasat 1 will premiere one UK’s most popular television comedy serials ‘MEET THE ADEBANJOS’. Meet the Adebanjo’s (MTA) is the UK’s Number 1 Black British Sitcom centered on a modern British-African family living in London. It follows a larger than life Dad struggling to instill his old fashioned African values in his reluctant new-school British household. The comedy comes from the typical family ups and downs fueled by the regular comedic mishaps of Dad (Bayo) and from the eccentric lodger (Aunty Funke).
“Everyone can watch and enjoy Meet the Adebanjos. We continue to bring you a wide selection of quality African productions such as this! It is such a great pleasure to watch! Says Charlotte Gustavsson, CEO of Viasat 1.
The characters in the sitcom are made up of Dad (Bayo) An annoyingly optimistic man who dreams of making it big but who is stuck in his old fashion African ways; Mum (Gladys) a frustrated housewife who is sick and tired of Dads mishaps and just craves some much needed romance; Mum’s Sister Aunty Funke an eccentric feisty lodger whose number one goal (apart from finding a husband) is to cause misery for Bayo; Daughter Sade a typical self absorbed teenager who is focused on making sure her fathers old fashioned values doesn’t mess up her social life; Son Tobi a cheeky teen who loves to do the exact opposite of what dad tells him and the Neighbor Kevin the streetwise neighbor whose pranks with Tobi often lands them both in trouble.
Season I of Meet the Adebanjos is made up of 8 episodes that can be enjoyed by the whole family from young children to grandparents. “We firmly believe that like all our other programs Meet the Adebanjos will sweep families off their feet in shared laughter!” Says Frank Norteye, Programs Manager of Viasat 1.
Meet the Adebanjos premieres Wednesday 2 May 2012 at 8:30pm and airs Mondays at 8:00pm, replacing Tinsel at that time slot. The show is produced by MTA Productions Ltd in London
