Whiles many musicians who have been nominated for the upcoming 13th Ghana Music Awards scheduled for Saturday April 14 would be hoping to win awards in their nominated categories, Sarkodie, arguably one of the biggest artistes of his generation, who is billed among other big names to perform at the upcoming awards has said that he is focusing on of his performance on the night.
Only few artistes get the opportunity or the call to perform at such events and Sarkodie is treating his call as very important, he is not leaving any stone unturned.
Speaking on Melody FM, a Takoradi based radio station; Sarkodie said he is treating the Ghana Music Awards with much seriousness as it’s the only event that allows musicians like himself to sit back and reflect on what they have done over the year review.
He said even though he doesn’t record songs for awards or do shows to be recognised, he feels any hard working musicians will be rewarded when the time is due.
“I don’t record based on awards. I don’t do shows because I want them to recognise what I’m doing. I do it because I love music and this is my passion, I don’t do any work [apart from music].  I will not tell you … I’m not looking at even winning any awards but I know of course when you work hard, you are supposed to be rewarded.”
Sarkodie said what he is thinking about is his performance on the night. He said he had dreamt about it because it’s a platform he yearns to perform on. He added that, everyone in the country gets to watch you, not like the shows they do in Accra which doesn’t go beyond the region.
