The person you see in the picture above is award winning Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown. It is not a scene from the latest Ghanaian movie. It is a photo taken by GhanaCelebrities.Com on Easter Sunday when the beautiful actress donated first batch of wheelchairs numbering about 550 to various physically challenged persons in Ghana.
The donation was done at the premises of the International Central Gospel Church [ICGC] in Sakumono as each physically challenged person who had made their way to the venue was presented with a wheelchair.
In addition, old people were also presented some wheelchairs which were a gift to enhance their mobility. Some of the chairs would be presented to people in Kumasi and Takoradi after the exercise in Accra has been completed.
Owing to inability of some NGO’s to handover gifts given to them by philanthropists to the needy, Nana Ama and her father Paapa Kofi McBrown presented the wheelchairs directly to the beneficiaries. This they told GhanaCelebrities.Com would give them the opportunity to have direct contact with the beneficiaries.
According to Nana Ama McBrown and her Dad, they didn’t want a situation where people will hoard the chairs and sell it instead of distributing it for free. So each beneficiary is expected to either be present for his or her chair.
The chairs were made possible by Free Wheelchair Mission [FWM] Ghana, which is under The McBrown Family Foundation with the actress as the driving force.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to GhanaCelebrities.Com were elated whiles others shed tears of joy. Some said they didn’t believe it until they were presented with the chairs without paying any money.
