The Gold Coast achieved independence from the United Kingdom in 1957, becoming the First sub-Saharan African nation to do so from European Colonialism. Ghana is now seen as a bastion and initiator of independence and democracy and, therefore, a role model for other African countries.
The significant day will be celebrated by various Ghanaian musicians such as M.anifest, Efya, XO, EL, Wanlov and Dee Money and include a mini hip-opera on the history of Ghana told in rhyme and song. Written by M.anifest and featuring Efya, XO, El and Wanlov.
Artists from around the continent will also wish Ghana a happy Independence
