Akorfa Asiedu
After almost two years of court visits to seek damages from Ghanaian movie maker-Leila Djansi, actress Akorfa Ejeani-Aseidu has decided to pull out from the case which was lodged at the Commercial Court in Accra citing Leila’s unavailability as the major reason.
The case was lodged at the court after the two were locked in ownership dispute.
The sweet and cordial working relationship between Leila Djansi and Akorfa turned sour after the two could not settle issues concerning ownership covering the award winning movie ‘I Sing Of A Well’ in 2009.
Akorfa Asiedu has always argued that, as the Executive Producer, she invested more in the making of the movie in respect to finance, whiles Leila contends that as a co-producer, its imperative that, the movie is seen as a joint production, besides the movie was on her production; Turning Point Pictures. GhanaCelebrities.Com can confirm that when the movie was once shown on Viasat1, a local TV station in Ghana, Akorfa became very infuriated even though the ownership issue had not been settled in court.
Akorfa did not come out publicly to speak on this but we are told that, she believed Leila at the time had no right to authorise the station to telecast the movie considering the fact that the issue was pending in court.
The two on several occasions have exchanged strong immature words via various media outlets.
Yesterday Akorfa mentioned to JoyFm that, it was very necessary that she took the case from court because Leila’s unavailability was affecting its progress.
Akorfa said “the case has been going back and forth because she [Leila] doesn’t live here [Ghana] so we’ve had it with the lawyers we’ve been going back and forth with it.”
She continued that, if she has been able to live without the money, she can survive hence the need to withdraw the case. “It’s two years already, I have survived without that money, I can survive.”
Since the case cannot continue anymore, Akorfa has acknowledged that her investment has to be written off as a bad debt. She wrapped up her interview by saying “revenge is the Lord’s. I will leave it at that. I will let God fight my battle for me.” Leila Djansi
