For now, I am not an enthusiast of African politics for reasons such as the overwhelming insults political opponents send to the doors of each other every morning…Politics everywhere including the west is a dirty bastard game, but in Africa (especially Ghana), it comes with far stretching consequences such as unwarranted insults, contempt and cooked lies.
I have stopped listening to Ghanaian radio stations in the mornings. This is because I have enough hustle in my life to over come and I do not want to be boomed with childish and insulting talks all in the name of politics. If you have not listened to any of these political discussions, let me paint the picture for you…
Mr NDC says Mr NPP is a cocaine dealer who attained his millionaire status via peddling drugs. Mr NPP will get so pissed and insult Mr. NDC for his ‘false’ statement. Mr NPP will not stop there; he will extend the insult to the ancestors and even unborn children of Mr NDC. It will go as far as even catching the shirt of the sitting president.
Insults and mischievous propaganda has become the hallmark of Ghanaian politics. The funny aspect of all these is that, the ordinary Ghanaian sits at home hungry, with no better life or hope for a better future. After all, NDC and NPP are equally bad and ready to exploit the citizens.
Sometimes, the issues these political gurus and intellectual individuals wake up to talk about on TV and Radio stations are plain gobbledygook. I will not even waste my spare time discussing some of these issues with my dog.
When it comes to the print media, the less said about their publications, the better. Newspapers in Ghana have entrenched political affiliations. It happens everywhere in the world but in Ghana, it is done with gruesome aftermath. NDC affiliated newspapers will publish insults and unreasonable stories about the opposition party. NPP ‘newspapers’ will respond with equal or even worse contemptuous headlines.
Stories such as where the opposition flag bearer urinates (pisses) will make headlines whiles stories on child labour and the lack of clean drinking water in our communities will remain on the desk of the editors (unpublished).
I get sick anytime I hear our political commentators talk. The irony is that, most of these men and women are Oxford and Harvard grads, yet, their diction and judgment have been notoriously weakened by their quest for political power.
I can go on and on…The question that remains unanswered is; are Ghanaian ‘politicians’ really doing politics or just trading insults and ‘chopping’ the national wealth to the detriment of the ordinary citizens?
