Ghanaian Dancehall superstar Emmanuel Samini was on Sunday morning treated and discharged from hospital after a seemingly serious car accident he encountered on his way from a musical concert performance.

Samini was returning from the Ghana Trade Fair Centre where he had purportedly stolen the show at the fairly successful Ghana Music and Food Festival organized by Konsule Entertainment over the weekend.

“At about 5am”, Samini said, “I lost control of the steering wheel after an animal- a dog, I believe- crossed the road from nowhere resulting in my car veering off the road and crashing a gutter”. The incident occurred near Exhibition Junction at Dansoman in Accra, on his way back home from the said performance.blank

Prelim medical assessment and report revealed that Samini sustained minor injuries when his head smashed the windscreen. “His seat belt worn at the time obviously reduced the impact and prevented him from being thrown out of the car”, a Samini Music rep confirmed to Hi Newspaper on Sunday afternoon.

Samini was immediately rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital at 5:25am where he was immediately treated and discharged on Sunday.

“I thank God for this big miracle, considering the nature of the accident. I was lucky doctors from various departments- over seven of them had to cease their activities to attend to me. I’m very grateful to them and thank God for this intervention. I want to use this opportunity to assure my fans that I’m quite fine now, and ask that they pray for me continually because it is totally due to their unceasing prayers that have kept me alive today”, Samini said.

Though he’s been discharged, Samini is still been monitored by his doctors. He is expected to return to the hospital for check-up at 10am on Monday, October 30, 2011.

The 2006 MOBO award winner and 2009 MTV African Best Performer’s last major concert was at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 8, where he headlined the show alongside international dancehall superstar Mavado. Since then, the acclaimed King of Africa Dancehall has been preparing for the third edition of his annual Samini & Friends Live Concert at the Tamale Sports Stadium, scheduled on Sallah holiday, November 7, 2011. According to Samini Music, “as of Monday, October 30, 2011, we cannot confirm whether Samini himself will be performing at the Tamale Concert as we await advice from the doctors late Monday.

Samini and Friends Live at the Tamale Stadium being organized by Samini Music, Viasat One and Creative Multimedia will certainly come off as scheduled with four major artistes including Castro, R2bees, Sarkordie standing by to replace Samini in the worst case scenario. However, as to whether Samini will perform at the Tamale Stadium on November 7 will depend solely on the advice of his doctors; an announcement will be made to this effect on Wednesday.

In the meantime, Anthony Pun Daning of Samini Music has told Hi Newspaper that the label has suspended all gigs involving Samini till after he has been cleared by his doctors. Samini is scheduled for appearance at the 2011 Channel ‘O’ Awards show in South Africa on November 9, where Samini has been nominated in the Most Gifted Ragga Dancehall Video category for his Dadiekye video.
