This morning, a GhanaCelebrities.Com fan tweeted me and said I should listen to Happy Fm Entertainment show because something ridiculous was happening…
I tuned in a bit late since I was locked up on writing some other posts. At that time, they were discussing the ‘Forbes 40 Most Influential Celebrities In Africa’ story.
All of a sudden, multiple fuming voices of which the strongest of them was that of Afia Schwarzenegger were heard.
Things got heated up between Afia Schwarzenegger who was drunk and was holding a bottle of Guinness (disclosed by a panel member openly on air) and a certain reporter…
The host of the show was heard on air calling in security to probably come and tow the drunkard Afia Schwarzenegger away.
Gosh, how did this happen? Why was Afia Schwarzenegger drunk on some damn Guinness as early as 10 in the morning?
Why did the management of Happy Fm allow her into the studios while drunk? Some of the comments she made were not radio friendly at all…
If this was in UK, I swear Happy Fm would have gone off air by now or be slapped with serious fines. People got to act responsibly especially when they are on air…
I love the Afia Schwarzenegger’s character but that should only be on TV! PERIOD.
On the Forbes story, this is what happened, the writer (Forbes contributor- Mfonobong Nsehe, a Nigerian blogger) first wrote a piece on Forbes and invited readers to submit (nominate) the names of the various celebrities they think are famous in Africa.
He mentioned that, after receiving the names, he will line them up for readers to vote on them… This is what he wrote…
In your opinion, who are the most popular and influential people in Africa’s entertainment landscape? Who are the celebrities whose talents, actions and ideas excite, inspire, and uplift you the most?
Vote for your favorite stars by sending me your nominations. The nominations will be sifted, and the celebrities with the highest votes will be the focus of a rigorous research process, from where we’ll come up with an authoritative list.
So if any Ghanaian celebrities’ name was not submitted by a fan which I think that is what happened, none would have be even considered. I am not sure how many Ghanaians read Forbes and therefore came across his article of invitation.
Even though I read this on a Nigerian blog I could not be bothered to submit a name and probably you did not too… So this explains why the ‘Forbes 40 Most Influential Celebrities In Africa’ had no Ghanaian celebrity in there.
I hope we can all put this to rest now!
