African dance hall artiste Samini has apologised to Ghanaians for the postponement of the ‘MAVADO LIVE in 2011 Fantasy Jam Hosted By Samini’ concert organised by MTN, Fantasy Entertainment and Samini Music.
The event billed for today [October 1, 2011] was called off on Thursday evening, three days to the event. It was called-off due to a hurriedly arranged friendly match between two of the most glamorous clubs in the country, the Porcupine Warriors, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the Glorious Club, Accra Hearts of Oak.
Disappointed Samini addressing the media recollected how the sad news of the postponement got to him.
“This news got to me on Thursday [September 29] after I had finished rehearsals with my band and was just relaxing at home. So my manager had to break the news to me after dealing with his crew for the day. It was difficult for him to psyche me up on the fact that my show was not going to happen”.

Samini clad in the concert T-Shirt concurred with the National Sports Council for the postponement of the show. He conceded that, there was no way a music concert can or should rebel a sports activity at a Sports Stadium.
“As an artiste, I logical thought that, the stadium is for sporting events and so for that matter regardless of how right or wrong one maybe, if there is a clash between music and sports over a Sports Stadium, I think that, we should just pave way for the sports people to finish with what they have to do there and then we use their premises to our musical concert,” he said.
Continuing, “To all my fans out there big apologies, to all Mavado fans out there, he said I should tell Ghana big apologies and that he’s going to make sure he gives them their time and money’s wealth on October 8.”
Samini also asked the people to join him to face the truth and call a spade a spade and keep moving. He asked Ghanaians to deal with the postponement and grabbed the opportunity of the extra time available to reassure Ghanaians that, the show will happen. It is not CALLED-OFF.
Also, the Vice President of Fantasy Entertainment-Ampofo Ofei Ansah addressed the hurried arranged Press Conference at the Stadium yesterday; he debunked the notion that, they acquired the venue through an unfair means.
He said they went through the supposed right process in securing the venue for the show but were disappointed and surprised to read in the Daily Graphic on Thursday September 25 that their show had been called-off.
When they contacted the Accra Sports Stadium authorities, they were told that any sporting activity takes precedence over any event at any of the stadium under the jurisdiction of the National Sports Council.
The National Sports Council further stated the reasons for the sudden postponement. “The stadium is mainly for sporting activities such as football thus whenever the use of the facility by any one of the core beneficiaries clashes with other clients, it is simply logical that the former will take precedence over the later”.
Per the above explanation, it doesn’t really matter when or how you acquire the venue. The show will now come on Saturday October 8, at the same venue Accra Sports Stadium. Gates opens at 6pm.
