Weekly Discussion, Let’s Get Talking: Do You Find The Use Of Derogatory Words Like Nigga, BiAtch & Others In African Movies Worrying?

I got into a discussion with some few African movie lovers this afternoon and out of the lot that we talked about, majority of them said they are getting extensively worried about the sort of diction being employed in most of the latest African movies.

According to the outspoken Tracy, the family feel good flavor that was attached to African movies some years back seems to be dead and gone. The days where she sat down with her parents and little siblings evening after evening to entertain themselves with African movies cannot be brought back as a result of the words used.

After various outburst by African movie lovers in relation to nudity, it seems Directors and Producers have cut down on such absurd content, only to replace it with derogatory words like NIGGA, BITCH, CUNT and others…

I am not sure if  you also find the use of such derogatory words worrying…Can we tell our stories by escaping these words?  Do you think it is necessary and should be constantly used in our movies?

What is your take on the use of derogatory words in African movies? Let’s get talking…

Example Can Be Found In The Trailer Below (0:50 upwards)…

Couldn’t she have said something else instead of NIGGA, is this also part of our copy copy syndrome ? Does it subtract  or add value to our movies?
