The African Movie Industry is still very vibrant with movies churning out on weekly basis. Of all the movies being churned out, romance or love themed movies have been the market lead. For whatever reasons, the African movie maker turns to see more relevance in producing love stories, though most of them are fictitious.
Movie makers have neglected other genres of movie making and rather focus on the romance and love stories. As if to say Africans are always in love with each other.
The latest movie with a love theme is ‘Behind The Heart’ from the stables of Stenes Production, the same production house that brought the movie ‘Summary’ featuring Jackie Appiah, Prince David Osei and others.
‘Behind The Heart’ has a blend of stars from Ghanaian and Nigerian movie industries. It stars John Dumelo, David Osei and Vivian Achor. Also on the cast are Nollywood actress Uche Ellendu and Canadian based Ghanaian singer/actress Vida ‘Veeda’ Darko.
‘Behind The Heart’ is a story of two sisters; the elder ‘Kimora’ [played by Efe Stenes] and the younger ‘Becky’ [played by Uche Ellendu]. Their rich mother [played by Vivian Achor] has a tumor, hence forced to travel outside the country for surgery.
She left leaving her daughters and the house boy ‘Maxwell’ [played by Prince David Osei] behind. The humble Maxwell served them right and yet Becky tried everything to make life unbearable for him.
Meanwhile, the eldest of the daughters fell in love with his unperturbed attitude to service to her and the home despite the frustration her younger sister was putting him through daily. Maxwell’s services to them drew Kimora closer but Becky grew to hate him more for no particular reason.
The latter humiliated him occasionally until her friend ‘Vera’ drew her attention to his good looks. Vera added: ‘He can ride a woman like a horse’. Becky then began to see all things about Maxwell as good; she fell in love too.
Now that the two daughters are in love with their house boy, they have to outwit each other to have Maxwell, only to realize that, there is a third woman in the picture who they got to contend with if any of them will have Maxwell to herself.
So who is the third woman in the picture? Let’s see how they join forces to fight the third party. The movie premieres on 27th May, 2010 at the Silverbird Cinemas at 6:30pm and 8:30pm.
It was directed by Mac Collins Chidiebe and Willie Ajenge with young, energetic, passionate and upcoming film maker who doubles as an actress Efe Stenes who played Kimora in the movie producing it for Stenes Productions.
