Yesterday, 21st April at the National Theatre, Sparrow Productions premiered the chapter one of its new serial movie, ‘Adams Apples’ which was heavily attended. Adams Apples is a 10 chapter cinema movie series. The premier was attended by the cast, crew as well movie enthusiasts.

Shirley as usual recorded very huge numbers of people who besieged the venue to watch the movie before it finally comes to the market. The movie was shown twice, 6:30pm and 9:00pm.

After the premier, GhanaCelebrities.Com had a chit chat with reps from various media houses. Below are their thoughts of the first chapter of Adams Apple dubbed ‘Family Ties’.

James Obeng [Spectator]: I think this particular movie brings a certain level of awareness that, there is a new wind of consciousness in the movie industry whereby writers and directors can now sit and come out with thought provoking ideas as in scripts and then put it out there for people to see.

Kwaw Ansah started it. He is planning to come up with 24 episodes and this is also going to run for 10. I think it’s a good thing to start with; we will only wait to see how it ends and at the end we can criticize and analyze it.

Ameyaw Debrah [Ghanaweb]: I think it’s an interesting story, I mean having the movie in chapters, and we are not used to this in Ghana. I think its something new she is trying to do. Kwaw Ansah is doing something like that, but his is such that every movie is a full story. So I think it’s new, lets see how the various chapters come together.

Perpetual Quaye [Sky TV]: The movie, I think is a brilliant piece; it was a very nice movie. Shirley’s movies are known to be nice and creative and I think the use of our local songs and local places like the known places in the movie is a plus.

This movie is a chapter one and it opens a lot of doors, so I’m sure and hoping that in the other chapters to come its going to be good.

Silikem [Homebase TV]: On the general note, I think the movie is a great one; I like the dialogue because it contains a lot of subtext, my prayer is that in the next episodes, we will get to see lots of subtexts in the actions too because it goes a lot way in making the story very rich.

I like the cast too but one thing I have realized is that, it seems some of them are comfortable playing their roles, I’d want to see them in more challenges situations in the successive chapters. On a whole, it’s a great movie.

Doreen Avio [Hitz FM]: With the movie, so far so good, I really enjoyed it, its really nice, I like the cast, I like the new faces. Shirley is one woman who likes to try new things and for me I just think it’s wonderful, I loved it and I hope that, the few others that are coming up will be nicer. For me, I loved it.

Eugene Quaye [Radio Univers]: Actually, I don’t have much to say, it’s really a wonderful movie. The first time I saw the movie, I asked myself what really motivated her to come out with such a wonderful movie but the answer that I got to myself was that maybe she wants to extend her tentacles as far as movie production here in Ghana is concerned by taking into consideration the Venus [Production] and the likes, they all have one trend of one movie and with for her I think it’s a wonderful step she has taken with the series kind of movies.Sound quality is best, picture quality is great. Everything is perfect.

Baffour Awuah [Homebase TV]: I think, this is one nice piece from Shirley. I like the idea of introducing most of our highlife music into this particular movie because most of the songs that she used actually depicted the scenes or the characters at were those songs were particularly placed. For me, 10 chapters, this is the first one, I think there is something more to expect from Shirley.

Mustapha Ayinde [Flex Newspaper & Ghanamovie.net]: I think the movie is perfect and Shirley can do better.

Richard Akanko [Flex Newspaper]: Actually this is another classic from Shirley. We are just waiting for the other chapters. We hope to have a blast on those ones.

Eugene Osafo Nkansah [Entertainment Editor for Peacefmonline]: I think it’s a great movie; this is another classic production from Shirley Frimpong-Manso. From what I watched, I liked the set designs with the art works and the flowers.

I also like the fact that she inculcated a lot of African prints in the movie. When you look at the costuming, it had a lot of African print that was combined with the foreign prints, it was very good.

The story, I think is a typical Shirley’s today’s family’s love movie. I think its good but I want to watch all the 10 chapters before I can conclude the idea behind the chapters.

Peter King [Fylla Newspaper]: this is a nice movie, lots of suspense and I believe that every chapter has a message and I wish that it will be clearer. Sparrow has done another good job. It’s big.

Nana Kwame Addai [Vide FM & Thebuzzgh.com]: I think the movie is awesome, it’s sexy, it’s sassy and its full of wahala. I’m quite interested in seeing what’s going to happen in chapter 2 but as for chapter one it’s great. It’s a good start but we still want to see more of the stories, it’s great basically.

Guud Kelly [OM Studios]: I think its okay, its good; it’s a step in the right direction. She’s done a new thing. We did not see a series of movies in Ghana and I think its good.

The thing about being creative and being a director is you don’t just to do anything. She’s brought a new art in it again and a new style and I think its okay!

Ato Turkson [Entertainment presenter on GTV Breakfast show]: The movie is a very good movie. I love everything about it and I look forward to seeing the other chapters. Especially, I like the part the movie ended with such suspense. I look forward for the other chapters.

Obed Boafo [Daily Mail Newspaper]: It was okay, I mean it’s very typical of Shirley, another blockbuster.
