In November 2010, the renowned film writer, producer and director Kwaw Ansah burst onto the movie scene with a thought provoking film entitled ”The love of AA” under the umbrella title The Good old Days. The only film that has been screened in almost all ten regions in the country. In his speech at the premier of the movie he promised the audience and the general public of 24 series of films to be released from his stable under the same umbrella title.
He has fulfilled his promise in just after 4 months, by releasing the second of the 24. “The Good Old Days – Papa Lasisi Good Bicycle”. Captivatingly this episode like the maiden one depicts our society in the pre and post independence era.
This episode also revolves around the core family of Joe E. Mensah played by Albert Jackson Davies. The main character Psalm Adjetefio plays Papa Lasisi a shrewd Abeokuta born business man based in Sekondi.
It is when the daring children of Mr. Mensah attempt to outwit Papa Lasisi after hiring some of his bicycles that the fullness of Papa Lasisi’s shrewdness comes to bare. It is in his dealing with the three Mensah boys and the boys trying to trick their parents that the ultimate core of the film is brought to the fore.
Bukom, La, Adabraka and Legon Botanical Gardens are the various locations where this episode was shot. This movie as enshrined in the Title – Papa Lasisi Good Bicycle will be full of humour and excitement and is scheduled to be premiered on Easter Saturday 23rd April 2011 at the National Theatre at 6:00pm.
