Omotola Beats Genevieve Nnanji To Become The 1st Nollywood Actress To Make It To Grammy Awards’ Red Carpet , Which Ghanaian Actress Can Follow Up…?

According to our sister blog NigeriaShowBiz.Com, Nollywood Star Actress Omotola Ekeinede appeared on the redcarpet of the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards which was held on 13th February,2011 at Staples Center in LA.

Omotola’s appearance at the Grammy Awards is making a lot of buzz on the internet. Apart from the fact that she is the 1st Nollywood Actress to make a red carpet appearance which has created the buzz, it came as a big surprise to most Nigerians and African movie lovers.

Prior to Sunday, if anyone was to be tipped for Grammy Awards’ red carpet appearance from Nollywood, Genevieve Nnanji would have been the name on the lips of the majority. It seems Omotola has stolen the game and swagger from Genevieve by making the first appearance.

Now let’s fast forward to the hub of this post. Omotola has made it to Grammy Awards unexpectedly and has graced the red carpet with her beauty and glamour. Which Ghanaian Actress do you honestly believe can follow up with a Grammy appearance?

If I am asked to pick 3 Actresses from Ghana with the swag, glamour and media hype to appear at next year’s Grammy, I will not hesitate to mention in ascending order; Yvonne Nelson, Jackie Appiah and Martha Ankomah.

Do I even have to tell you why I have picked these 3? Remember securing a Grammy Awards red carpet appearance has little to do with talent. If anything at all, I think media hype, glamour, connection and recognition have enough influence.

    • Well, well here we go again…FYI there’s one Ghanaian girl with 2 Oscars under her belt for her excellent contribution in Hollywood, and the other for her creativity in how screenplays are viewed by WGA. You guys are soo boring! gesh Africans should really open their damn eyes. What’s the big deal about standing behind the free press area any ways? Gosh
The first 300 people are selected to walk on the red carpet every year, Including honorees and their quests! Where she’s standing is the free press area, so far as you are in the first 300 sits you can walk around there without any pass. Gosh villagers! Educate yourself cause this is really embarrassing for Africans. Ticket cost only 150 to stand at where she is so please give us a fucking break! Genevieve is in a whole new class so please don’t even go there.!

      • Nadia what? When was the last time that girl did anything big to even get a local media attention, let alone international grammy attention.

Can’t you see the girl’s career is dead and gone? She is even struggling to get movie roles in Ghana with some of the cheap movies even.  Are you out of touch that much?

  2. Would def. agree if you say Yvonne Nelson and Martha appearing at a grammys through connection.Well, am saying this cuz I kinda feel they have that desperate spirit in them.Nadia Buari/Yvonne Okorro could be the next to appear officially. The girl is too classy(Okorro)Well, Jackie, I dont know, she could also cuz She is kinda well known by lots of prominent people.

    • Gholly what? you people are very funny! why ghollywood? why can’t you guys come up with a better name. Gish! This is really sad! The only Ghanaian Actress that will go far is Yvonne Okoro. Period!  She is one of very few actresses that have been selected around the global to represent Africa on a world wide platform so please spare us with those other names.

It would have been nice to see her on E! Online Grammy’s red carpet talking to Ryan Seacrest ( I know that may be ambitious but hey she may just get that recognition)…………I say she looked better than Rihanna and Nicky Minaj in their dresses at the Grammy’s…………Omosexy looks great……………….

  4. Very disappointed with Omotola’s dress. This is low class, unsophisticated, cheap, ugly, too tight, poor coulor coordination and a mis-representation of African movie stars. What was she thinking wearing that garbage of a dress at the Grammy awards, did she think she was attending one of the Nigerians or Ghanaian red carpets? ..Humm unbelievable.

  5. did you see her hair? i dont think she was really on the red carpet the way it is done…..if Joan Rivers had seen her…what am i even talking about???…Joan wouldnt even know her. Anyway, at least she was able to get to the staples center and see the grammys i hope…. But ones hair speaks a lot about ones personality….especially for a celebrity too. she should check it next time. Naija actresses are in the unfortunate habit of walking around with bad hair. Its just gotta stop!

  11. Well done to Omotola, i think she looks great and this can only serve to better her career as she will be moving and networking with the right people for if all the so called celebs that have been mentioned here should have been there then they would have been because so many claim to want to make to Holloywood. Best of Luck to her! She looks great.

  13. I agree with u Vincent, Jackie/Yvonne has more media hype and some swagger to go along with, btw who advised OMO to wear this number? I mean how can u stand next to BEy or RIh on the red carpet looking like that, its horrible. The lace front weave looks crooked, her tummy is protruding, she looks fat, men, Omo she lost this one.
