According to a report by Ameyaw Debrah, star Actress Jackie Appiah who has just return from Nigeria has apologized to her fans, the organizers of the Ghana Movie Awards and her co-award winning Actresses for failing to make it to last Tuesday’s car prize presenting ceremony.
The talented Actress explained her absence by saying “Let me first apologize to the organizers of the event, my colleagues and sisters: Juliet, Yvonne, Roslyn and my numerous fans for my inability to be at the ceremony. It is because I was out of town in Nigeria.
I am sorry to have put the decision on the future of the car on hold because of my absence. Now that I’m in town, I have gotten in touch with my sisters to settle the issue once and for all.
Since the four of us can definitely not drive the prize car, my initial suggestion would have been that we could sell it and share the proceeds amongst ourselves. Indeed l had plans to give my portion to charity…”.
When Jackie Appiah was alerted that the car cannot be sold until after a year per the terms and condition of its “give away”; she further said “The four of us worked tirelessly on set during the shooting of the movie to bring out the best, culminating in this award.
We all had to work together to achieve a common purpose. We were like sisters and respect each other. However, it is obvious that the four of us can definitely not drive the same vehicle and since we are also not allowed to dispose of it, then with all due respect, l humbly opt out of that decision making and leave it to my three other colleagues”
Also, it is reported that the Actress explained her lack of interest in the car as not founded on the fact that she is well-to-do or she has several cars to her name. Her decision to back out the whole car drama rests on the fact that, it is far impossible for 4 people to share a single car.
Jackie is said to have also denied the rumour that she was in Egypt at the time of the car’s presentation. “Who said l had gone to Egypt? That is not true. I have never been to Egypt before. I was in Nigeria” she said.
