Infusion (aka fusion) weaves seems to be making a comeback even though the queen of this style-Janet Jackson- chopped off all her hair in lieu of a cropped do.
What is great about the Infusion method is that you can wash it, blow-dry it, curl it and retouch your hair with a chemical relaxer without removing the Infusion weave.
I believe it is entirely possible that Vicky Zugah’s new picture (above) showcases her real hair (perhaps this is what it looks like after a deep conditioning wash).
But for the doubting thomas’, I will appeal to your sentiments and show you how it also may be possible, that is frizzy hairstyle trend can be achieved with the Infusion weave.
There are two versions of the Infusion hair method:
- hot infusion-uses acrylic, a type of clay needing heat to stick to the hair
- cold infusion-uses keratin, a type of protien that easily sticks to the hair.
Infusion weaving method is only meant to add volume to the hair because it mixed in with your real hair without restricting it to a cornrow. This method can last up to 5 months if cared for properly and regularly with the aid of a hair professional.
The UK seems to be the mecca of Infusion weaves which I believe peaked in the 1990’s. However, thanks to Beyonce the Lacefront style seems to be gaining popularity due to needing less time consuming-more on this in a next issue.
Infusion weave can cost upwards of 5,000.00USD /74,007,118.6GHC / 3,210.48GBP just for a few strands to be placed in key positions of your scalp.
It is made up of less than an inch of acrylic and synthetic hair that is mixed with human hair. Pictured below is the tool that is used to melt the acrylic portion of the weave into the nap of about 10 strands of hair.
Just like any hair weaving method, there are risks associated with Infusion, please ask your local hair professional about it.
One disclaimer I will support is that cold infusion hair extensions are best and safe compared to hot infusion hair extension also the cold Infusion extensions lasts longer.
Man i bet is soo expensive! I wanna get one.
But how the heck do they do it? i wonder if Ghanaians can do it.
Well hopefully i can get a video for you next time! What I have seen is that the extension is attached as close as possible to the nap/scalp of the hair.
okay thanks.
I think US holds the largest record for Fusion hair extentions in the world. We also have the latest methods of Fusion technics as well. There is the old method like the one you stated above, and then we have the clips(made with the lightest metal which are colored same as your hair color) that clips your hair and the extention together without damaging your hair, and when you’re done with you just un-clip. can still Relax, Style,Wash or do whatever you want. And then we have the one that is done almost like you do your eye lashes. That is if you can afford it!
Similar to Brazilian braids method kind of…sorry did you say 5,000 smackers?! Geez and wow i’ll leave it for the Beyonce’s and Ciara’s of the world. Cul post though! This is the first i’ve heard of this method. I do really like Vicky Zugah’s hair though.
Hello SassyChic, yes it is true the expense is high and I have a feeling Vicky Zugah’s hair is real, so many of hour stars wear weaves just for movies just like the Ciara/Beyonce’s of the world. At home its all about letting loose.
Saaaaaay whaaaaat You girls are nuts for real 5 geez I can invest that in something good for real
It is a good price if you calculate the cost of braids costing 500USD which last only about 3months(and most times washing braids will make it look old) so lets multiply for it to last a year, 2,200USD. Now with this amount you loos time from work, loose time from family, which I dare not calculate.
But I see your point.
So in another words you can keep using the same hair as long as you take care of it without throwing it away than if so than I got nothing more to say than, than will get some for my younger sister than cause she is tearing me apart by going to the salOon every month
lol say it again…i can buy 2 tickets to ghana….i’ll still stick to my $49.99 human hair weaves lol
i glad they have it in afro. maybe i can save 4 a year 2 get one.
the lady in da picture is beautiful. yaa is that u?
Aww madam social, I will gladly claim Solange Knowles because we both have the same smile:) and taste in music. Someday after my trip to a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon I can come close to that look:o That’s not me, I plan to change my avatar when President Obama gets re-elected.
